"Ready to go home?"

"Beyond ready."

Tim put the truck in drive and pulled out of the station. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back against the seat. Twelve weeks. The truck turned left to which I opened my eyes, we weren't going home.

"Where are we going?" I asked, sitting up.

"I don't know about you, but I'm starving and I'm guessing neither of us want to cook tonight?" He responds while pulling into the drive through.

"Touché." We got our food and I sat impatient waiting to eat it.

When we got home we quickly ate after not eating much but pretzels and some water all day. After eating Tim turned on True Crime as I went to get clothes for a shower.

"I forgot to tell you, I told Wesley I would watch baby Jack while they go on their honeymoon." I told Tim as I made my way to the bathroom.

"Okay, I didn't know they were going on a honeymoon?" Tim said, loud enough for me to hear.

"Yeah, Wesley planned it since they didn't get a real honeymoon since, well, Yknow," I called back, feeling uneasy just thinking of the horrible situation Angela was is when she got married and was about to have Jack.

"I hope nothing like that happens to us," I whispered, rubbing my belly. "I promise, I will do everything to keep you safe."

"What?" Tim called.

"Nothing, I'm getting in the shower. Don't wait up for me, you can go to sleep."

"Okay, I'm gonna put Kojo outside and clean up a bit."

I stripped myself of my clothes, stepping into the warm embrace of the water. As much as I have always dreamed of having kids, it never felt right with me. It is so selfish bringing children into a world this messed up.

I see first hand how bad it is in LA alone, let alone anywhere else. I know Tim and I will do our best to protect our child, and the whole station will have our backs incase of an emergency, but it is still terrifying what could happen.

I blinked the terrible thoughts out of my mind and tried to focus on something more happy. I have a wonderful husband, a job that I love, and amazing friends surrounding me.

I grabbed a bottle off the shelf, not bothering to look at the label and poured the body wash onto a luffa. It wasn't until I was already scrubbing at the tattoo on my hip out of habit that I realized I had used Tim's body wash.

I didn't mind since, if I'm being honest, I like his better anyway. Men's body wash, deodorant, cologne, shampoo, etc. all smell amazing. Especially Tim's.

I got out of the shower after an hour and checked my bump in the mirror. I smiled as I changed into Tim's shirt and a pair of maternity sweat pants. I opened the bathroom door, nearly hitting Tim as he walked passed.

"I'm so sorry," I said through laughter.

"Well hello There," Tim laughed, wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Why hello."

"I haven't seen you around, are you new here?" Tim smiled.

"So new," I played back.

"Single?"

"Clearly not! I'm very pregnant," I snorted, gesturing to our child. "Good thing you aren't a detective."

"Aww man, your husbands a lucky dude."

"I'm luckier," I said softly, giving Tim a kiss before a walked to our room to collapse on the bed.

(Switching perspectives, I don't like writing in first person I don't know why I kept doing that.)

"Hey, Angela, where are you going for your honeymoon?" Tim asked. Angela stopped, flipping around to meet Tim's eye.

"What honeymoon?" She demanded.

"The honeymoon-" he tried, being interrupted.

"Tim! No!" Lucy cried, throwing her hands over her face.

"What. Honeymoon." Angela asked again, turning her gaze to Lucy.

"Don't hurt me," Lucy said, standing behind Tim. "Wesley may have planned a surprise honeymoon and asked me to watch Jack. Blabber mouth over here didn't know it was a secret."

"Lucy?" Wesley called.

"Why is everyone here? You're never here. Why are you here?" Lucy groaned, knowing not only was the surprise ruined, but she was also caught in the act of telling Angela.

"Did you tell her?" Wesley asked, taking a few steps forward.

"I did, but only because Tim said something first and your wife is terrifying." Lucy waved her hands frantically, earning a smirk from Lopez.

"You planned a honeymoon?" Her gaze softened.

"Well, yeah. After everything that happened, you deserve a break. And a real honeymoon." Wesley said just as softly.

"God, what did I do to deserve you?" Angela smiled, wrapping her arms around Wesley's neck. Tim and Lucy both looked at each other, silently agreeing this was their best time to escape.

The two escaped from the couple successfully. However, Tim was now stuck with Lucy.

"I didn't know it was a surprise!" Tim said, throwing his hands up in defense.

"Well why do you think Wesley asked me and not Angela!?" Lucy whisper yelled.

"I don't know, because he was there? I'm sorry, I really didn't know." Tim dropped his hands to his side.

"I know, it's okay. At least she isn't mad, don't know if I can say the same about Wesley yet." Lucy shrugged, smiling as they walked into role call.

Lucy zoned out for the entirety of the briefing, knowing she would be sitting at her desk most of the day. The promotion to detective is great, but the first few weeks is full of paperwork and tests.

"Have a good shift," Tim said, leaning down to give Lucy a kiss which is what snapped her out of her blank stare.

"You too, be careful," Lucy responded, standing up and walking to her desk next to Nyla.

"Hey, mama, how you feeling?" Nyla asked.

"Like a bowling ball is strapped to my torso," Lucy joked, grabbing her water. She would much rather have coffee, but Tim had insisted that coffee and pregnancy should not mix.

Now who's falling down the rabbit hole of WebMD?

I am so so so so so so so so so so sorry for the wait. I know it has been over a year since I last updated, but I had no motivation, and I quite frankly forgot about this. I had to re read the whole thing just to remember what to write about. I will update one or two more chapters but I am going to find a quick way to wrap up the story. My writing style has changed incredibly and I honestly only have one idea for this that will take 30 seconds to read so I have some stuff to figure out 😅 Thank you so much to everyone who has waited the long return of The Aftermath! Love you all! I will post the last few chapters within one day.
