Lucy's POV

"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled. I looked around to see many balloons, streamers, and a big banner.

"You really thought I would forget it was your birthday?" Tim asked, walking up behind me. I turned around to face him.

"No, but I didn't think you'd do all this!" I laughed, "and why does the banner say congratulations?"

"Because it's not just your birthday we are celebrating, but our baby and your promotion." He replied. I hugged Tim, trying not to cry on how sweet this was before I comprehended what he had said.

"Promotion?" I asked, taking a step back.

"Congratulations detective, you work with me now." Angela said, walking towards me. My heart skipped a beat as I looked back and fourth between Tim and Angela.

"You're kidding!" I said, still looking at the both of them. They shook their heads no, I jumped up in excitement.

"Alright detective, you start Monday. Until the you are still a TO!" My new boss instructed. I was so happy I was finally a detective, I then gave Angela a hug.

"Happy birthday, and congrats! You made detective faster than I did!" Nyla said, walking up to me.

After the excitement passed, I helped clean up and headed home. In the truck I couldn't stop smiling. We pulled into the driveway and I jumped out before the truck came to a complete stop, a few drops of rain came down. Tim got out of the truck, laughing at my excitement.

"Come here! I wanna dance!" I said, running up to Tim, grabbing his hands and leading him to the empty spot in the driveway.

"It's raining" he laughed

"I don't care I wanna dance!" I said as I continued to dance in the rain, Tim reluctantly joined.

He spun me around a few times and dipped me. I looked into his eyes and fell in love with him all over again. I reached up and kissed him as he reached down and kissed me.

"I think I just fell in love with you all over again," I said as the kiss broke.

"I think I did too," he laughed. At this point it was pouring rain, Tim swooped me up and walked into the house as we were dripping wet. He set me down and grabbed us a towel to dry off.

"I'm gonna order Thai food, what do you want?" Tim called from the kitchen as I changed into sage sweatpants, a white sports bra, and a matching sage sweater.

"Fried rice with basil and pork," I said, walking out of the bedroom, drying my hair with a towel

"Fried rice with basil and pork," I said, walking out of the bedroom, drying my hair with a towel.

"Alright, you look hot. Just saying." Tim said, looking up from his phone for a second.

"I know," I teased. Tim smiled and continued ordering our food when someone knocked on the door.

"I got it," I said, opening the door to reveal my mother. My smile dropped as my mother invited herself in.

"Where's dad?" I asked, closing the door. Tim came out of the kitchen and stood next to me.

"I see you still haven't left him," my mother mumbled.

"Nope, and I never will." I said, walking to the kitchen. She ran after me, hands up in defeat.

"I didn't come here to fight, I came to tell you that your father and I are moving to Carolina. We have too much attention here, you being a cop and all." She said bluntly, leaving right after. I stood still, in shock.

After a moment I ran after her, reluctantly. I had to tell her I got a promotion and that I was pregnant, she would want to know. Maybe this will make her ease up, knowing she has a grand child on the way and the job isn't as dangerous.

"Mom! Wait I need to talk to you!" I called after her, she stopped in front of the car.

"I'm not changing my mind," she said.

"I'm pregnant, and I'm a detective now. I'm no longer a patrol officer, my job isn't gonna be as dangerous." I tried.

"I am so happy that I will have a grandchild, but your job is still so dangerous and you are selfish for bringing a child into this world, knowing the danger." She said, raising her voice a little.

"Yeah? Like it was selfish to sleep with one of your clients and then lie to me about it?" I said, trying not to yell. She looked at me with anger and confusion.

"Who told you that?" She asked, voice growing louder by the minute.

"You know what mom, just leave. You said you weren't here to fight, and I thought for once you would be happy for me. But I guess I was wrong." I said in defeat, going back into the house as my mothers car sped away.

"When's the food getting here?" I asked Tim. He looked at his phone before saying that it would arrive in 3 minutes.

"You alright?" He asked, I shook my head yes and smiled.

"Who needs them anyway?" I said, sitting down on the couch and flipping to a random channel. Soon after, the food arrived.

2 months later - Tim's POV

I woke up half an hour before Lucy and decided to make her breakfast. I made coffee and a few cinnamon rolls for her, setting out her usual weird toppings.

"Hey, I made you breakfast." I said quietly as I woke Lucy up. She rubbed her eyes and slowly sat up, her baby numb was still small yet visible. She got up and made her way to the kitchen, she sat down and started adding her toppings.

"You are so weird," I laughed.

"You did this to me, thank your child." She laughed back. We finished getting ready as we made our way out the door and to the station.

When we got to work, me and Lucy split ways. I went to the locker room and she went to her desk, but not before teasing me about still having to wear a uniform. Lucy and Angela worked as a pair until a spot would open for Lucy to ride solo. I finished changing and walked to my office, ready to start a long day of desk work.

Loud screams were heard from downstairs, I ran down looking for Lucy. She was at standing up, looking around for who screamed. Another scream came as we all ran to the waiting room.

"Give up, there aren't enough of you! We are the terioson (Tear-E-Oh-sun) clan. We come from Saudi Arabia and we will not back down!" One man yelled. They all had masks on and held heavy powered machine guns.

"If you lower your guns ain't nobody gonna get hurt right now!" A different man stated, holding the gun to a young woman's head.

"Let the girl go! I don't know what problems you have with the government or the police, but according to her paperwork, this woman is here for a stolen bike. She didn't do anything to deserve this." Lucy spoke up. I looked at the woman, she had a bracelet that read " Epileptic". I motioned for her attention subtly, so the men did not see.

She looked at me and I pointed to my wrist and then to hers, she looked down to her bracelet. I mouthed the words "have a seizure" she nodded slightly and a moment later she started to shake.

"What's going on?" The man yelled, throwing her to the ground.

"She's having a seizure, she has epilepsy! Read her bracelet dumb ass!" Another man yelled. The leader of the clan pointed his gun at Lucy and then to the girl.

"Help her or you die," Lucy handed me her gun and got down next to the woman. She whispered to her that she would be alright and to keep faking it, to spare time.
