Chapter 15

Omniscient

Ariana and Amari sat on Ariana's bed waiting for her pregnancy test results. She hadn't had a period for the month, it was two weeks late to exact. She had also been feeling fatigue and nausea.

"How much longer do we have?" Ariana questioned Amari anxiously. Amari looked at the timer on his phone before responding.

"Thirty more seconds." Ariana nodded. Amari looked over at her, placing his hand on her shaking thigh.

"Stop, you making me nervous with all that damn shaking."

"Sorry, I can't help it." Amari didn't respond, he just waited until his timer went off.

"You want me to go look?" Amari questioned.

"No, I'll go look."

"Ight."

Ariana got up and went into the bathroom where the pregnancy tests were. She opened one of the First Response tests and it was negative. She then opened the other two and they were also negative. She was relieved, but she was also a little sad. She honestly did think she was pregnant.

"What they said?" Amari questioned, entering the bathroom.

"They're negative." Ariana mumbled, throwing them in the waste basket and exiting the bathroom.

"What's wrong?" Amari questioned, noticing her mood change.

"Nothing."

Amari sucked his teeth, knowing she was lying.

"You wasn't acting like that five minutes ago. What's wrong?"

"I just thought that I was pregnant, I'm kind of disappointed." Ariana spoke honestly.

Amari took a seat next to her. "I understand but think about it, we not ready for no baby. We haven't even been together for a year." Ariana nodded her head understanding what he was saying.

"Do you think I still need to go to the doctor, just to make I don't have covid or something."

"Man." Amari shook his head, he knew that she probably was going to test positive because the symptoms she was having were similar to covid. "Call and see who test people so we can both go. I don't feel like getting that shit stuck up my nose." Amari complained.

Ariana ignored his complaining and began looking up some places that did rapid covid test. She wanted them to get the results today.

When Ariana found a place where they could get the tests done, they headed there. Luckily the place wasn't crowded so it didn't take long for them to get called to the back.

Amari took his covid test first so he could get it over with. He hated how they stuck the stick so far up your nose. He didn't understand how there weren't more alternative ways, especially with the advanced technology we have now.

"All done." The nurse removed the stick from Amari's nose. Amari got up, getting a tissue to blow his nose.

"Ready?" The nurse questioned Ariana.

Ariana shook her head yes; she was just ready to get it over with. The nurse stuck the stick into her nose and swabbed the area she needed then took it out.

"I'll be back with the test results, in a few minutes." The nurse informed them, before leaving the room. Ariana and Amari both nodded.

"I'm going be mad as hell if you gave me covid." Amari gave Ariana the side eye.

"You work around hundreds of people, if we have it you definitely gave it to me."

"Nah." Amari disagreed.
