Clarke started to drive at Raven's indication, getting out of the parking lot and into the street next to their college. Lexa was sitting in the backseat, silent, waiting for any of them to say something.
Anything. They drove in silence for a couple of minutes, the blonde hasn't even had a direction in mind, she was just hoping her friend gave her any indication so she was glancing at her from now and then. But all she found was a very angry Raven staring at Lexa from across the rear-view mirror. This was gonna be a long evening. Clarke decided to just stop the car next to a park and fill the silence as the engine stopped.
—Could any of you say something? — She wasn't waiting any longer — and maybe stop killing each other with those stares? —
Now Lexa was staring back at Raven who spoke:
—Explain yourself. —
—It was just an idea — the brunette defended
—Bullshit — Rae finally moved her body so she was staring at her, hanging from the co-pilot's seat —One does not simply asks if someone's missing friend is a drug addict. —
—One does not simply have a missing friend —she attacked, that made Raven's blood boil.
—Listen, princess —she was fed up
—Is Lexa for you—
—Lexa — Raven repeated, and took a deep breath before exploding —Just be fucking straight forward, stop playing games. If you are covering up for him, whatever but-
Before raven could continue Lexa interrupted:
—I'm not. I don't know where he is, that wasn't a lie — she clarified.
—Then why asking about drugs? — It was Clarke's time to speak. The girl in the back lets out a sigh and stared out the window thinking how bad could this turn out to be. She made a promise to herself to not get anymore deeper than what she needed to. Once she found her boyfriend or whatever was going on with him she would step out of this, whether they found Harper or not.
—Francis sells things at parties...and we all know The Dropship isn't specifically legal in many aspects — she started, not giving in many details —I thought...maybe she had talked to him to buy. Because there is no way he would've voluntarily talked to her, he is not like that. And since you both swear you saw her with him... well, that's the only idea I got.
Raven and Clarke looked at each other, it felt like they were finally taking steps in the right direction. Baby steps, but steps after all.
On the other hand Lexa was still thinking about this idea, even if Harper's friends were completely denying it.
—So he was selling things that night? ——Yeah...that's why we argued about — she rolled her eyes.
Francis had promised her he wasn't going to do any business that night, that they were just going to have fun with their friends. But it wasn't like that. And after she found that out, she ditched him, walking away and getting lost in the crowd. Then she never saw him again.
—Okay...and did he sell anything?—
—Probably. I mean I saw him shoving a bag of what could easily be ecstasy into his pocket.... you don't carry that around unless you are selling. — Now she looked back at Raven.
—You seem to know a lot about drugs yourself —Clarke raised an eyebrow, and her words immediately made Lexa to look at her.
—I don't. But after dating a guy like him you learn a thing or two — That sentence was a lie...well, not completely
—Clarke, don't mess this up. She is talking, let her be. — Rae was straight forward and all her blonde friend could do rolled her eyes.
—Do you have a picture of her? — All of sudden the brunette asked —Harper-
They both nodded, Raven grabbed her phone from her bag and scrolled down the photos. Finally, she found a picture of her friend. It was actually from the night of The Dropship, they took it at Raven's house before leaving. It stung to see it, nobody knew what was going to happen. In that picture you could only see a couple of good friends exited to have a fun night.
Clarke took a glance at the picture on the phone, and when she realized in the context she grabbed her friend's hand as a form of encouragement. She too sometimes looked at pictures of that night and wondered what would've happen if they never lost each other, or maybe if they never went there. That's when Rae finally gave her phone to Lexa so she could take a look. She had hope, a tiny bit, for her to tell them she remembered that face.
Clarke, on the other hand, was staring at her to try and get some small reaction that could sell her out if she lied.
But there was nothing.
—No idea — she denied before giving the phone back. She had never seen that face — I thought I met all your friends — her eyes travelled to Clarke, awfully remembering that night they met.—Just half of them —
Oh, that's why she didn't meet Raven and Octavia before...
—Anyways — Rae spoke again before they started with the hate and throwing shit at each other —Thanks...it means a lot what you said. I hope it helps in some way. — She was being genuine now and was way calmer than before.
—Sure — she nodded
—Want a ride home? —
—Raven! This is my car, I get to choose who I give a ride, and who I don't — Clarke was frowning —And she —she pointed at the brunette —is not on the list.—
—Don't worry, princess, I can walk —Lexa spoke from the back the car.
—Do not call me princess.——Isn't that what your friend called you? Bellamy? — Oh yeah, she remembered that and now was making fun of her —By the way, who the fuck calls their son Bellamy...—
There was a silence, Lexa knew they both were holding back their laugh a) in respect of their friend and b) because she was 'the enemy' there.
—I guess his parents must be big fans of Maupassant — she broke the silence.
—Who?—
—Guy Maupassant, he wrote Belami —Clarke talked some culture into her friend —Do read anything more than cereal boxes?
—Shut up, Clarke. Now I'm making you drive her. Where do you live? —Raven looked back at Lexa, ignoring every complaint Clarke yelled at her.
—Seriously, you don't need to drive me.—
—Jesus, we are not stalkers. I don't care where you live — that...was a lie.Lexa was a bit hesitant, she still didn't trust those girls, but she ended up giving in. She really didn't want to walk, she wanted to get home quick. And she would be lying if she said she didn't find extremely amusing to bother Clarke with that. So she gave away her address and waited to get home.
—Thanks again. — Raven spoke as she rolled down the window of the copilot.
—Yeah, sure.—
—See you around?—But Lexa didn't answer, she just turned around and walked into the apartment. They weren't friends, she wasn't 'seeing her around'.
—Quite modest building for a rich kid, don't you think? — The black haired girl said as she took a look at the outside of the building
—What do you mean? — And that's when Clarke finally took a look to the building, before that she was just looking away waiting for Lexa to leave.
—Is just weird...there's something about her that doesn't sit right with me.—
—Do you really think she is covering him?——No, she is an airhead, remember? — She now glanced at her friend and they both laughed
—God, she is so fucking annoying! —
And with that Clarke started to complain about every stupid thing about her while she drove to Raven's.
