All Clarke could find once she stepped in a bit more was...a pretty neat apartment. The walls were pure white, the kitchen was on her left and connected with a small living room. To her right two doors. Her bedroom and a bathroom? Probably. Lexa had a very minimalist taste, and apparently loved plants a lot...weird, she didn't see that coming. In the main room, she had small dinner table, a blue couch against a wall, with a small coffee table right in front of it, and there was a nice window from which the sun was entering the apartment making it feel like movie scene.
Lexa was taking her leather jacket off just to throw it on the couch next to her things. And not even once she invited her to feel herself like home, what you would usually say to someone one they walk into your house. But she wasn't pissed about it, she would've done the same thing.
Clarke felt pretty stupid for the whole nerve racking moment she had in the elevator, thinking how she would die there or find something that would change her life. This was just a normal home.
On the other hand Lexa didn't had a clue of what was going through the blonde's head. If she did, she would've laughed way too loud. But she still felt a bit uncomfortable in letting her into her home. She wasn't fond of having strangers invading her privacy, so she thought the tension in the air was her fault. Once she took off her jacket and tossed her things on the couch, she walked into the bathroom to wash her hands, and then went right into the kitchen.
—There is a plug next to the couch if you want to charge your laptop — first thing she said, but didn't even look at her. She was too busy trying to find some glasses.
Yes, she kinda hated that girl, but she was still going to be a nice host or whatever. So she walked in with a couple of glasses and a bottle of water for both of them. All she could hear from Clarke was a very low 'thank you', which she just responded with a nod.
This was so weird.
Ten minutes later they were already working on their things, they could only work for an hour that day with all the time they lost trying to find a place. So it wasn't a surprise both of them were quite quiet and just exchanged words if necessary, well...that was the usual, but this day was quieter than the rest. But the blonde couldn't quite focus that day, she was too busy trying to see everything around Lexa's place. She didn't want to be obvious, so she had to be discreet. She had a bookshelf next to the couch, with a couple of books and some other decorations. A couple of plants scattered all around the room and a wall covered of photos right before the kitchen started. She was dying to stand up and go check the photo for photo to see if she found Francis, but she didn't. That would've been really creepy. Of course she never got to see her room, but she did go to the bathroom and, by the look of it, it seemed that no man was living there with her. So no boyfriend in that apartment. That made her think maybe she wasn't lying after all.
When it was 4 o'clock Clarke decided she should get going back to campus, her class started at 4:30.
—Sure — Lexa nodded as she heard the blonde —I'll finish writing this and send it to you later if you want to re-read it before Friday.—
—Thanks — she was now starting to pack her things, laptop and notebook on her backpack and pen on her pencil case. —Sorry for... this, being here— ugh, why did she say that out loud?
—Whatever, we'll be back at the library next week — Lexa tried to brush it off, but was actually a bit surprised that Clarke was...apologizing? —You know your way back to campus? —
—Yeah, don't worry — that was a lie, she was totally gonna google how to get there. Even if it wasn't far, she was lost.
—I wasn't worried, I was just asking.—
—Of course — that sentence alone made her remember who she was dealing with: the idiot.
Lexa walked Clarke to the door, they awkwardly waved at each other before the brunette closed the door.
And when they couldn't see each other anymore the both mumbled to themselves: what the fuck was that.
