Very Awkward

June 15th

Its been two weeks since Eli and I started our plan for making Vivian and Caleb ungrudging, intolerant, and ultimately, jealous.

In those two weeks, I've learned a couple things about him. Little and insignificant things, but things that make you chuckle in delight just to hear them, you know?

He loves mochi

He loves sandwiches

Eli is actually a very thoughtful person.

He has this sense of strength, maturity, and sensibility.

And, quite frankly, it really does surprise me how someone like Eli fell in love with someone like Vivian. I haven't brought it up with him, because I did figure that it would hurt or annoy him, but wow. Now I see, maybe it's the same way in his mind about me and Caleb. The unlikeliness of them, however, will never cease to amaze me.

One negative thing about Eli is that he's scared of trusting people. He's secretive, without realizing it. So, I will treasure his friendship. Because it is a privilege that should not be squandered. I can see how he's reluctant to tell me certain things. So I feel I have to help him, in a way.

Oh, also, since it's been two weeks since our dating plan thingy, we start today.

This Monday is going to be full of my name.

Walking into school, I am jumped on by the gregarious Grace.

"I MISSED YOU! WHO KNEW 24 HOURS COULD BE SO LOOOONNNG! I LOVE YOU~!"

"Your voice, your voice! So loud . . . ! I love you too."

"Ah, so how's that ridiculous plan going? Anything happen that's awkward yet?"

"What do you mean? We're friends, so it won't be awkward."

"You couldn't be more foolish. Did you even love Caleb? Were you two in a real relationship, or no? Have you learned anything? Because you're friends, hugging and kissing in that manner can confuse you both, you dummy brick."

". . . I could get more foolish. Because I don't think that's true."

"Well, you're the type that needs to find out everything by experience, and that's okay, its your way of learning. But you could be greatly hurt or pleasured, remember that. Come on, lets go to class."

Greatly hurt or pleasured? Whats that supposed to mean?

"Oh, there he is now." Grace points at Eli. "Right? Go and talk to him."

"O-Okay." I call him. "Eli! Good morning."

"Oh. Hello. Good morning." He smiles at me.

A fellow next to him, asks under his breath, "Who's Eli?"

"My name." Eli says back.

'Why didn't you tell me?"

"She just thought of it. Not like I had any reason to object the nickname."

Grace shares a look with the fellow, they both seem to know what it means.

"Ah, Adrian, this is an old friend, Leon."

"Best friend, wing man, buddy, everything." Leon tells me playfully.

"Shut the hell up." Eli snaps at him.

"Oh, so grumpy. Ah, who is this, Adrian?" Leon points at Grace.

"My best friend, Grace."

"I think we'll get along just fine." Grace smiles, with her hands behind her back. A satisfaction, as if having completed a deeply, personally needed action; expressed by the slightest curve at the mouth's corner and a youthful confidence worn in a light raise of the eyebrow above a quizzical, joyful eye.
