A new day

"ADRIAN, LOOOOOOVVVEEE~" Grace greets me as enthusiasitically as ever. I gasp for air as she squeezes me to death.

"G'morning Adrian." Leon picks me up and hugs me.

"She's so lovely, right? I could keep her in my arms aaall day~" Grace swoons over me.

   "I know. So huggable, too."

Me, Grace, Elijah, Leon, and even Ana have become really good friends.

   "Good morning, Adrian." Elijah smiles.

   I don't respond.

His smile is so calming. Euphoric, almost.

   Shheeeshh. Whats up with me?

   "Good morning!"

   "...."

Grace, Leon, and Elijah sort of give me this strange look.

   "H-Hm...?" I scratch my head.

"You okay, love? You are so smiley!"

"M-Me?? Oh, yeah!! Of course! I'm just . . . feeling really, really good lately, is all. U-Um, Elijah, take me to class?"

"My pleasure." He smiles and takes my hand.

   "Heh."

"What is it? I wanna laugh." Elijah asks me.

   "Did I say something?"

   "You chuckled a little."

"Oh, yeah. I was just thinking - I guess - how when we hold hands, its a normal and routine, you know? I dunno, we've just grown so accustomed to it . . . I guess . . . ?" I try to explain. I don't even know why I found  it funny. Yeesh. I'm stupid.

   "Really, now?"

  "Yes."

  "Huh. Interesting."

  "Is that so?"

  "Yes."

   "How so?"

"I don't know, I thought we maybe had something more." He smiles.

  Wait . . .

I blush, which is completely out of my control, just look everywhere but his gaze like an idiot, and overthink what he says.

  "U-U--"

  "Haha! I'm sorry!" He laughs.

 "W-What?"

"Ugh. I'm such a dick, sorry. I love seeing you flustered. Its cute, sorry! Hahahaha!!"

"Yeah, you are!!" I laugh and push him. "Meanie."

"You can get me back later. Go to class."

"Ok. Have a good day, Eli."

  "Hey, wait up."

  "What is it?"

He pulls me with his hands and presses his body against mine, and hugs me. A genuine hug.

"Sorry - don't confuse yourself. I was just kidding."

  Don't . . . confuse yourself . . .

  "Its . . . ok."

I just hug him back, and I mean  - what is there to say about it?

  "You're a good hugger. (lol)"

  "Shut up, go to class."

"Same to you!" I can't help but smile. Hes so kind, in reality.  "Heh, when you get flustered, you're cute too."
