I sit down in my regular seat on the bus, and am approached by a young girl, who looked about six, and tapped me on the leg. "Sir?" She asked.
"Yeah?" I ask her with a smile. I didn't know her, but she was very adorable. By the way she talked, she definitely had an alpha female personality.
"Sorry to bother you, sir, but my friend has an enormous crush on you and won't admit it." She said. "I have come to let you know, since she doesn't have the guts to do it." She explains, her hands in fists, both resting on her hips. She wore pick-tails and the elementary school uniform. I am taken back. A girl her age had a crush on me?
I laugh gingerly. "What? Who?" She, without moving her head, pointed down the bus aisle. I scoot down my seat and look for her. I don't see anyone, just a crowd of a bunch of other girls who looked the same age as the one who approached me (and others) in the front, huddled around a seat. They look back at me, whisper, and repeat. They all eventually move out of the way, and I see a girl who's face is covered by her own hands. She reveals her face, which is crimson and steamy with embarrassment.
"Is that her?" I ask the girl, and she nods, her pick tails bobbing up and down to the movement of her head. I look back at the girl down the aisle. She looks up at me, and quickly looks down again, but I manage to catch a glimpse of what her face looks like. She has olive skin, a small amount of freckles that are scattered around on various parts of her face. She has dark brown hair and bangs, and her hair is right above shoulder length. She looked like she was in the seventh grade, not the little girl's age. She really was a pretty girl, but I was going to have to say no.
And I knew exactly what to say.
"Tell her what," I whispered. "I'm sort of dating someone exclusively, but she is very, very pretty! if I was in her grade, I'd definitely date her." I say with a tender smile.
"Yes!" She acknowledges. She looks ecstatic. "By the way, my name is Magi! Nice to meet you!" She extends her arm for me to shake her hand.
"I'm Elijah." I shake her hand. She nods and goes to the front and whispers to the other girls (hopefully,) what I said. Behind the crowded girls, I can make out the seventh grader's face, and she looks relieved but disappointed. It's alright. At least she understands.
I probably didn't explain correctly about my school. We're in a private academy for all grades. I've been going here since junior high, and gave always taken the advanced course. Hence why I was just talking to a six year old on my bus.
I'm the last bus stop. It's only Lee and I and a couple of elementary schoolers who go to this stop. Lee got moved to the front because of his "unacceptable behavior", but he sneaked to the back. "Hey, man!" he whisperers, coming up from the bottom the the seat parallel to me. "'Sup?"
"Nothing, you?" I say, looking down at my phone.
Didn't text me yet . . .
"Who you waiting for? Haha, didn't you just break up with Vivian?" He read my expression.
"N-No one . . . Geez"
"Psh. Liar."
"Leave me alone." I avert my gaze.
"Lemme see, lemme see!" He laughed. I scowled and ignored him. "Who is she?"
I let out a heavy sigh. "She? No one."
"You're no fun. -_-"
He trusts me, I should trust him.
"Sorry. I'll tell you if you promise not to tell anyone."
I explain to him everything from both of our perspectives. Everything from me and Vivian's break up to Adrian's previous boyfriend kissing Lia to, Adrian and I dating.
"I gave her my kik so I could talk about how it's gonna work." I conclude.
"That's complicated. You think it'll work?" He said, arms crossed and shaking his head as if he knew something, laughing at something.
"What? What is it?" I push him. He laughs some more.
"You've always been a little immature, you know that? Silly - it's gonna end up . . ." He said, holding in his laughter. "It's just . . . nothing! Hahaha!"
This kind of pissed me off. "That's annoying. Tell me what you were about to say '-' -_-."
"I know, I know, but - hahaha!" He says, and I feel the bus come to a stop. I swing my backpack onto my back furiously. I really want to kick him in the nuts when he does that.
"Oh, c'mon, man!" He laughs. "I'm soorryy!" He catches up to me as I walk off the bus.
"Hey, look, I'm sorry. See you later. Bye!" He waves and I don't pay attention. I keep walkking foward. I can't help but think about Adrian.
Was I too straight foward? Maybe I scared her off . . . shit. What if she starts spreading things? God dammit. Didn't mean for that to happen . . . she seemed like she was on the same page with me, so why would she be scared off? Maybe -
*ZZZZZZ*
My phone vibrates in my pocket. I take my phone out frantically and type in my password. Was it her?
I turn the corner. I'm no longer in the shade of the trees. The glare of the sun didn't let me see anything, so I had to wait until I got home.
