Okay, so this is one that virtually every rant book on this site has wrote about yet everyone still continues to do it their books. All the guys are hot....apparently.
What annoys me about this is that every character in the book agrees with the person when they say "he was the hottest guy I'd ever seen", or some variation on that. I just struggle to understand how that's possible... everyone thinking that the same guy is hot.
Me and my friends (one in particular) always argue over who we think is hot and isn't. One of us thinks they are and the other doesn't! Guess why that is! It's because we're different people with different opinions... We have different tastes.
So basically when your book says that everyone thought that the guy was hot you depicting a falsity. There is not one person on this planet that everyone would agree is hot, end of story, so by putting in your book you are lying to the reader.
Let the reader make their own decision by describing the beauty of your characters instead of just stating "they're hot", I don't know about you but I prefer to have my own opinion on a character.
It's fair enough saying that to you the guy was the hottest but you can say to everyone they were because it makes the reader feel bullied into believing you.
What else annoys me is the fact that all the guys are hot when only a couple of the girls are. It's like the author is flashing a neon sign in my face saying "I HAVE LOW SELF ESTEEM" or "I DON'T WANT TO CALL GIRLS HOT OR ELSE I MIGHT GET CALLED GAY" it's like what the fuck?!! Btw that's aimed at the female writers on here not the male writers.
Also, why is the hot guy the one that the story focuses on?! Do you know what I'd like to see, a book where the main guy character isn't hot and the girl/boy interested in them focuses on their personalities instead.
PERSONALITIES!!! PERSONALITIES!!! Learn to focus on them! They're fantastic! Much better than looks to be entirely honest!
God I'm pissed off!!
Right if you do this then fucking stop! Right now!!
