Chapter 6

"Malapit na ang graduation ball, may susuotin na kayo? How about a date? Is it really required?" sunod-sunod na tanong ni Verona.

"Naghahanap pa kami ng designers. And about bringing a date, why would we? We can just enjoy the ball by ourselves."

Sheena threw a side glance at me. "Napakabitter mo talaga kahit kailan, Gwy! Can't wait to see you fall head over heels with someone just so I can make fun of you. Imagine Gwy saying cheesy words and doing something for her partner. Can you see it, Guia? Verona?"

Hinila ko ang buhok ni Sheena. Hinampas naman niya ako pabalik.

"I don't, but I'm looking forward to it." natatawang tugon ni Guia.

"What you guys are doing motivates me not to find a partner in the near future. I won't ever give you the satisfaction."

Nagtinginan ang tatlo at sabay na nagtawanan ang mga ito. Mas lalong kumulo ang dugo ko. Gaganituhin lang nila ako porket NBSB ako? Aba, hindi ako papayag!

The week after that conversation, papa Bailey brought me to his designer friend to have my measurements taken. I said we'll just buy a dress so we can save some money instead of getting it done but he insisted so can I still complain? Parehas na matigas ang ulo naming dalawa.

"Is it wrong to spend my money on my daughter who deserves everything in the world?" he replied, kinda annoyed about saying that I'll just settle for a store bought dress. I rolled my eyes.

"What's wrong with a store bought dress? Halos lahat naman ng mga damit ko sa mall ko binibili."

"This occassion is different. It's special. Of course we have to treat it like one."

When I realized that I'm never gonna win this argument, I sighed and just accepted my defeat. "Fine. In that case, I want a simple dress. I don't wanna attract too much attention on the ball."

"Why? Don't you wanna be the Queen of the Night?"

"Seriously? You're gonna ask me that?"

Sa huli ay natawa siya. He knows I hate crowds, what more being the center of attention? I might pass out if that happens.

When we arrived at my father's friend's boutique, the owner stood up straight and went to our direction immediately. He and my father hugged for a full minute before turning his attention to me so he can introduce himself.

"My name is Emir," he said before hugging me. "You've grown into a fine woman, Gwyneth Heloise! The last time I saw you you were just as small as a bean!"

I raised both of my brows by what he said due to shock and pressed my lips together to stop myself from laughing. I need to be respectful or else he'll make a horrible dress for me.

"He's actually your godfather, sweetie."

I blinked twice. "What?"

"It's true. We had a beef years ago due to some personal reasons but luckily we were able to sort it out. Judging by your reaction, your father never mentioned me on the dinner table."

"That's because he tried to seduce your papa Harper." papa Bailey rolled his eyes to the ceiling jokingly.

What the fuck? Do I really need to retain all of this information in one day? I feel like my brain will explode. I don't have to know their drama but here we are.

Hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat kong tugon doon kaya nagpoker face na lang ako. Nagtawanan ang dalawa at tuluyan na kaming pumasok sa loob ng boutique. Agad naman akong kinuhanan ng measurement ng isang staff habang sila papa at ninong Emir ay pinapanood ako at minsan ay nagchichikahan tungkol sa akin. As if the subject of their conversation isn't standing in front of them. Ako iyong nahihiya sa tuwing nagbabrag si papa Bailey ng mga achievements ko. Ni hindi ko nga magawa iyon.
