Chapter 11: Land Ho!

Jake and Sofia woke up to a knock on their door. "We've made it!" James said as Sofia and Jake woke up and climbed up to the roost where Santiago was. They looked out and saw Portorosso which didn't look so bad. "It actually looks quite nice," Santiago told Jake. Jake looked suspicious. "You never know which strangers or pirates will be around. Remember about the sea monsters around here?" Jake told Santiago. Santiago nodded as the boat stopped at the port. Meanwhile, Amber woke up to Alberto sleeping on her shoulder. She smiled until she heard voices outside that sounded familiar to her. Jake and Sofia walked around as people were staring at them. "I don't know about this town Sof. Stay close to me cause this town seems fishy," Jake told his girlfriend. Sofia nodded as she stayed close to Jake. Santiago and James followed them. As they got closer, Sofia's amulet started glowing. "Hey you!" a voice said as Sofia looked around. "Huh? Who's there?" she asked. "I'm down here. Sheesh you humans are ridiculous," said a cat who was talking to her. Sofia yelped and Jake came running to her aid. "What is it Sof? A villainous pirate? Sea Monster?" Jake said taking out his sword. Sofia picked up the cat. "Put me down or I'll...oh yeah that's the spot," the fat cat said as Sofia scratched him behind the ears. "Poor kitty, you must belong to someone around here," Sofia said. "I do...wait a minute, you can understand me?" the cat said. "She can talk to animals," Jake told him. "Oh that explains everything! I'm Machiavelli and I live in this town. My owner should be around here somewhere. Follow me and I'll take you to him," the cat said. "Thank you Machiavelli! That's very sweet of you," Sofia said. But Jake pulled her aside while Machiavelli started walking away. "Sofia, how can we trust him? He could be a spy for a villainous pirate or a sea monster," Jake trembled. "He's right Sofia, this town may look nice but seeing can be deceiving," James mentioned to his stepsister. Sofia rolled her eyes at her boyfriend and started walking while Santiago and James followed her. "You coming or what?" Machiavelli called out. Jake was still under suspicion but decided to follow the cat anyway.

When they got to Massimo's house, Machiavelli meowed in front of Massimo. "Why Machiavelli, where have you been?" Massimo asked the fat white cat with a black mustache.  Machiavelli turned around and Massimo was surprised. Now there were 4 teenagers around the same age as Giulia, Luca, and Alberto. "Ah, I see you found more guests," Massimo told the cat. Machiavelli purred as he wrapped his tail around Sofia's legs. Sofia picked him up as he purred. "Is this your cat, sir?" Sofia asked. "Yes it is," Massimo said as Sofia put Machiavelli down. "Who are you and where did you come from?" Massimo asked. "I'm Princess Sofia. This is my stepbrother James, my boyfriend Jake, and our friend Santiago," Sofia introduced everyone. "We come from my little island across the way," Santiago told Massimo. "How did you get here?" Massimo asked. "On Bucky," Jake said pointing to his ship. "Welcome to Portorosso, I'm Massimo," he said to the group. "What happened to your arm?" Jake asked Massimo. "Jake!" Sofia shushed and elbowed her boyfriend. "What?" Jake frowned. "It's a long story but did one of you say you are a princess?" Massimo asked them. "Yes sir, I am and James is a prince," Sofia explained. "Oh my son was talking about a girl that he rescued," Massimo said. "Is she a princess?" Sofia asked. "Could be. I noticed this in my daughter, Giulia's, bathroom," Massimo said as he handed Sofia a green crown. "Guys! It's Amber's crown! She must be here!" Sofia said to her friends. "Is that her name? Alberto talks a lot about her," Massimo said. "Who's Alberto?" Jake questioned. "He should be up by now. I should go get him. Excuse me," Massimo said as he went to get Alberto and Amber. "Follow me, there's a treehouse you can wait by," said Machiavelli as the group followed him. Once they got to the treehouse, Machiavelli went inside the house.

Amber was excited to see her family and guy friends again. She wanted to wake up Alberto but he looked cute sleeping. There was a knock at the door and Massimo opened it. "Alberto!" Massimo yelled at Alberto. Alberto jolted awake and saw Amber right by him. "Morning princess,"Alberto said kissing Amber's forehead. "I hate to interrupt you two but Amber has some guests that have requested to see her,"  Massimo said and left. "Amber! Hello?" said a familiar voice. "Sofia!" Amber said as she rushed down the stairs. "Sofia?" Alberto thought as he followed Amber downstairs. Amber opened the back door and saw her siblings and friends. "Amber!" Sofia said as she gave her stepsister a hug. "You look different," James said. Amber frowned at her brother. "But it's a good different," James smiled as he joined the hug. "Uh guys, someone is staring at us," Santiago pointed to the person who was standing by the door.
