Save Him

Part 3

A week had gone by and the trip came to an end. It was time for things to get back to normal. Or as normal as they could be.

Jase returned to work and Michael was about to start kindergarten.

Katie decided not to return to work. She wanted to stay home until after the baby was born. Jase had made sure to have guards everywhere but was discrete as possible. He did not want Michael to feel scared. He wanted him to have a normal childhood and he wanted Katie to be relaxed and stress-free.

Katie decided while she was home, she would start getting some stuff taken care of before the baby was here. She wanted to keep her mind busy and off her mother.

Her phone rang and it was an unknown call. She answered it with a lump in her throat.

"Hello."

"Mrs. Montgomery? Hi, this is Vanessa from Dr. Schwartz's office. She wanted for me to call and get you scheduled for next week."

"Oh hi. That will be fine. I am free Monday morning."

"Great I have you down on Monday at 9 am. See you then."

Katie hung up.

She picked up a book and began to read. She was trying to keep her mind busy and off the real world.

A knock came at the door and she jumped. Her heart was racing. She slowly walked over to answer it.

When she pulled the door open, one of the guards was standing there. He was dressed in normal jeans and a t-shirt so that Michael would think the men outside were just friends

"Yes?" She spoke with a shaky voice.

"Jase wanted me to check in with you." The man informed her.

"I'm fine. Please tell Jase not to do that anymore. You scared me." She admitted.

"Sorry miss. I didn't mean to. It won't happen again."

The man left and she closed the door. Another knock sounded and she quickly opened the door.

"What?!" She hollered.

This time Sadie was standing there with a bag of Chinese food.

"Sadie? I'm so sorry." Katie said.

"Did I come at a bad time?" She asked as she closed the door behind her.

"No, I am glad that you are here. It is just, Jase has me on edge with all these men and every time someone knocks or my phone rings, I can only imagine that it might be Jessie. I can't even call her mom anymore." She confessed.

"I know it is hard, but you have to try and relax. You have a baby growing inside of you right now."

"I know that, but how can I just turn off my fear."

Sadie sat the food on the counter. "I know it is hard, but you have to try. Jessie is not going to be able to get near you or Michael. She isn't going to take a chance getting caught this time."

"I am just glad that you are here. I feel safer having some company." Katie hugged her friend.

"I can come by any time you need me to. All you have to do is call."

Katie began to serve the food. "Have you heard anything else?" She wondered.

"I heard that Dylan got out on bail. I am sure Jessie got him out."

Katie sat down. She felt like she was living her nightmare all over again.

"When? When did he get out?" She asked.
