Save Him

Part 11

The morning was here. Everything was so quiet. Michael was just waking up and was running around looking for Katie.

Dylan came out of his room when he heard Michael screaming for Katie.

"Mommy! Are you here?!" He cried out.

Dylan walked over to Michael and knelt down in front of him. "Hey little man, we will see mommy once grandma leaves, but we have to keep it a secret."

Michael just nodded with tears in his eyes.

Jessica walked around the corner. "What's with all the screaming?" She asked in a cruel tone.

"Michael was just scared waking up in a strange place. He is ok now." Dylan lifted Michael in his arms.

"You would think he was being beaten half to death." She said as she rolled her eyes.

"It won't happen again. He is ok now and I am going to make his breakfast."

"I have to run into town to set my plan in motion. Please make sure our house guest is ok for now." Jessica smirked.

"Mommy?" Michael asked.

Jessica wiped his eyes. "Oh honey, I am so sorry, but mommy couldn't make it."

Michael began crying hysterically. Dylan tried comforting him, but he couldn't calm him down.

"I am leaving and when I get back, he better have himself under control. Do I make myself clear?"

Dylan snapped back at her. "Maybe if you weren't so cruel, he wouldn't be crying."

Jessica didn't say anything. She just smiled and walked away.

Dylan watched to make sure she was gone.

"Come on buddy. I have a surprise for you." He carried Michael down into the basement, where Katie was locked away.

Michael was nervous because it was so dark, but when the door opened and he saw Katie he wiggled his way out of Dylan's arms and ran to her.

"MOMMY!" He screamed.

"Michael? Oh my God... You're here." She hugged him tight as tears rolled down her cheek.

Dylan closed the door behind him. "We don't have much time. She is gone for now, but won't be gone long."

"Why are you helping us?" She asked.

"I told you... I am trying to change."

Michael sat on Katie's lap. He was hugging her tightly. "It's ok honey. You are safe."

Dylan got his phone out and began to dial out.

"Who are you calling?" She asked.

"You're husband. I am letting him know it is safe to come get you and Michael."

Jase answered his phone immediately.

"Yeah..."

"Jase, Jessica is gone for now. I am with Katie and Michael." Dylan informed him.

"I want to talk to Katie," Jase demanded.

Dylan handed her the phone. "Jase?" Katie spoke.

Jase got choked up hearing her voice. "Hey, Beautiful. Are you ok? Did they hurt you?"

"No, I am ok. We both are. Dylan has been really good to us." She told him.

"We can't trust that 100%. It could be part of their plan."
