I just thought that the Wizarding world is pretty old-fashioned, so it isn't so hard to think some of the rich old families would have done word fighting as a child. I hope you like Selene, she will be reappearing! (Mostly as a background character, probably mentioned as much as Harry, Hermione and Ron are) And if you don't like her, what could I do to improve her character?

"Nico, is that a sword you're carrying?"

I spin around, automatically putting my hand on its hilt. Maybe walking around with a sword isn't normal in the Wizarding world. Standing a few metres away, looking faintly intrigued, is Selene. I let my hand drop back to my side so it doesn't look like I'm about to attack her and glance around to check that there aren't any other too curious students.

"Yep." I unsheath it, and show it to her, as there isn't much point in trying to hide it.

She nods, impressed. "My mother taught me how to use one, saying that it would be a useful skill to have, although I've forgotten some of what she taught me. She seemed to think that people still use swords to fight."

"Some time further away in the year, me and Percy are planning to teach everyone basic weaponry, swords being the main one because we're both well trained in using them," I explain, re-sheathing it.

"It will be cool to relearn the skill," she says.

"I'll ask Percy before we decide on anything, but seeing as you already know the basics, we could start teaching you earlier, if you're free after classes any day. Me and Percy need to keep practising anyway," I offer.

"Oh thanks!" She beams in reply, "I'll think about it." I watch her as she walks off, and then head back to me and Percy's room.

"Hey, Perce, seeing as we need to keep up with our training, I offered-" I break off, noticing Hermione, Harry and Ron standing awkwardly in the classroom, next to Percy. "Oh. Sorry, you can just ignore everything I just said," I wince.

"What do you mean, training?" Hermione asks, pointedly disregarding the last bit I said.

I look at Percy. "I'll explain it later," I say in Ancient Greek, and then reply to Hermione. "Just, y'know, training and stuff."

She frowns at my answer, which is fair, and then rounds on her friends."Should we tell them then?"

Ron and Harry shrug. "Well, yeah, that's what we came here to do."

"Right. So anyway, we - well, I came up with it, but Harry has offered to run it, we've came up with this idea of a defence club, where we can teach each other defensive and offensive spells, because - no offence, we aren't learning any magic in your lessons, and our defence teachers have been fairly awful over the last few years," Hermione says, all in one breath.

Percy nods. "That's fair. We don't really know enough about magic to be able to teach it. You guys would be good at teaching others. I've already seen you walk around and help others in our lessons," he says, the last but mostly directed at Harry.

"And also, Voldemort is back, and people need to be ready to fight him," Harry adds. Hermione and Ron nod, "Even if no one believes he is back."

"If you need teacher supervision, we can do it," I offer, glancing at Percy for confirmation.

"Oh, fantastic! That way Umbridge won't be able to shut us down if she wanted to - she can't shut down a teacher-run club!" Hermione says.

"What we need now, is members," Ron says. "I don't suppose we can advertise with posters, can we?"
