My Future, Our Past

I seemed to have apprehended a person who was lurking in the shadows, I questioned who it was. An Assassin? Serial Killer? I wouldn't have any idea. The moment I removed the hood and mask of this person, all those possibilities seemed to have washed away, I was looking face to face with a beautiful girl; her hair was as dark as the beautiful night sky shining above and her eyes were as dark as the void, you can easily get lost in them.

What feels like an eternity, I awoke from my trance and questioned who she was,

"From what I can tell , you aren't an assassin as you have no weapons on you. So what's with the get-up?"

She also seemed to have been awaken from something and replied back, "I apologise, I thought you were someone trying to hunt me down"

I gave a concerning confused look, wondering as to why there are people hunting her down. A part of me also feels like I should know this person, I get off of her and gave her a lift up. She took my hand and lifted back up.

With this, i gave a bow and said, "I apologise for tackling you, my name is Taranis. Nice to meet you"

She also gave a curt bow and replied, "I also apologise for surprising you, my name is Zenaida"

Once we have established who we are, I proceeded to ask her, "If you don't mind me asking, why were you running and hiding?"

She gave a smile and replied, "I don't really mind, I kind of wanted to explore the place around me. But I didn't exactly tell my parents, so they sent the guards to find me"

I retorted, "Guards? Your family seem quite important if you have guards looking for you?"

She gave a shy laugh and nodded, "Yeah, my family are here to meet up with the royal family of Imperia. I am the crown princess of Ristonia"

I gave a surprised look back and slightly chuckled, "That was very unexpected. Do you want me to show you around? I live in this city and show you the best parts of it"

I gave out my hand and smiled, she smiled back and took my hand. I took her to the most beautiful places in Imperia, the monoliths of Paracelia, The fields of Camellia and the fireworks display happening today. Today marks the day of when Imperia was founded, 100,000 years ago. While going around the city, we kept avoiding the guards and just enjoying the time here together. After hours of exploring together, the Hidorian Guards arrived and located us quickly. The leader, Lazaron came in and said,

"Crown Prince, we were looking for you. It seems you found Ristonia's Crown Princess. You have been ordered by both families to return to the castle so we can begin the unification ceremony"

I nodded and looked back, there Zanaida looked at me with surprise on her face. Me and the guards laughed as it was just biggest shock on her face, she playfully punched me and said< "Why didn't you tell me?!"

I shrugged and replied, "I didn't think it was important, we still had fun together. Right?"

She smiled and nodded, we then proceeded to walk back to the castle with the guards behind us. Once we got back, Both families were waiting for us, the King of Ristonia had a look of disdain and my father had a smile but shook his head to act disappointed. I kneeled and apologised to the King and told him I wanted to show her around the country and see the attractions we have to offer here. He shrugged it off after a bit and apologised on Zenaida's behalf for disturbing me. My father then looked at me and put his hand on my shoulder and asked,

"Are you okay?"

I smiled and replied, "Yes we are, just out for a bit"

He responded, "That's good to hear. Anyway, both of you get clean up, the ceremony is about to start."
