The fall

Ada POV
The world finals are over and Jb flew back to North Carolina for a little bit. We are still trying to decide if i'm moving to North Carolina or to Texas. I'm meeting up with Codi and her girls at a barrel race tonight, I think i'm going to try to qualify for the NFR this year. I have the horses to do it, I just need to get back riding. Tonight's also Emma's first barrel race, she's been practicing a lot lately and has honestly gotten really good.

(The race)

I picked up Codi and Emma on the way, Emma is pumped. We all get to the grounds and park and get set up. Emma is up first then i'm up in the next couple hours. "Ready?" I asked her. "Yeah will you hold him while I get on" I smile, it's so amazing that kids are rarely afraid of anything. I help her get on and We walk down to the ring. I leave my horse bullet tied to the trailer because I will only be gone a few minutes. "Up next for her first rodeo, Miss Emma Taylor on her horse Buddy who was trained and previously owned by Ada Smith" The announcer says and the crowd starts clapping. She's with Codi in the ally right now but before long she comes out. The first barrel was a bit messy but it stayed up, 2nd she pulled it together and had a really nice turn and take off, and now she just had to hold on for her 3rd. "Emma Taylor with a clean 18.76 to start of tonight's youth round!!" the announcer says and once again the crowd goes crazy for the little girl. I go back and meet her and congratulate her, "Emma!! That was awesome girl!!" she just blushed and said thank you. I'm up in the other arena next, they moved the schedule around a bit. I saddle up bullet and we head out to the warmup area. He's a bit more relaxed than usual but he's probably just gotten used to this whole rodeo thing. "Up next is Ada Smith on Bullet. Let's all give Ada a congratulations on her recent engagement to star bull rider Jb Mauney!!" The crowd goes wild and it didn't stir Bullet up at all, he's also sweating a lot, I've only been on for 20 minutes and he's dripping. He should be ok to run though i'll just hose him off extra when i'm done. And so off we go into the ally way, he was running slower than normal but that's ok for the first barrel. I was about to sit and open my rein for the first barrel but Bullet nose dives down and flips over, I got stuck underneath him and then it all goes dark.

(At the hospital)
Codi POV:

"Is she going to be ok? It's been thirty minutes and she's not awake yet." I asked the doctor who was checking her vitals. "She seems to be in some kind of paralysis or coma but we will know for sure after we run x-rays." I smiled and nodded. I've already texted Jb and he's on his way here and Weston has the kids so now we just have to wait. I had Weston pull the horses home and drop Bullet off to the vet to run blood tests and X-rays. Bullet has never put a foot wrong, something had to have been wrong with him. "I'm taking her back for X-Rays and a few other scans, you can wait here or leave, we will let you know when she's back." I smiled and nodded "Ok thank you" I planned on staying but as soon as Jb gets here I have to go home and help with the kids. I get a text from Jb so I open it.

Jb: I just left North Carolina, 10 more hours, how's everything going?

Codi: Good she just went back for X-rays and tests. She's either in Coma or some kind of Paralysis. It was a horrible fall. I'm so sorry.

Jb: I should have been there

Codi: You couldn't have changed a thing that happened. Have you heard anything about the horse?

Jb: Not till tomorrow

Codi: Okay. I'll stay the night with her tonight. I'll let you know if anything changes.

He never texted me back after that. I decided to go and lay down on the couch till she comes back. I don't think i'll be able to get much sleep for the next few days.

(Time skip)

The doctors bring Ada back in roughly a 3 hours so I didn't get much sleep but still some. She's still out cold though. She has her left leg wrapped up, it's no doubt broken. The doctor came in too and said "3 Ribs are broken and she has 2 breaks in her left leg and a fracture in her left wrist. She has a concussion for sure but we can't tell what stage it is until she wakes up. She's in coma as a form of body shock. She will not be in coma very long though. Hopefully she will be awake in the next day or so. Have a nice night." and he left. She's beaten up pretty badly and I can't help but think how this would have gone if she didn't get on Bullet. I'll go ahead and send out a text to Jb before going to bed.

Codi: She's in Coma from body shock but will be awake in the next day or so. 3 ribs broken, 2 breaks in her left leg and a fractured left wrist.

Jb: I'll be there in 7 hours

I know it's hard for him, it's hard on everyone. I can't sleep anymore but in movies people still talk to people in coma and they may seem crazy but hell let's do it. "Hey Ada, i'm sorry about what happened. I know the first thing you would ask me is if Bullet is ok. As far as I know he's getting tests done at the vets office and i'm sure they are keeping him as comfortable as possible. Jbs not doing to well I think. He probably thinks it's his fault because he wasn't here but we all know its not his fault. He will be here in the morning though. Love you Ada good night"

(Time skip to the morning)

I woke up and Jb was some how already here, he was sitting on the floor against wall beside Adas bed. "How the hell did you get here so fast? You cut like a hour and a half off at least" he just said "My trucks fast". I just laugh, but as soon as I get up I run into the bathroom and throw up. Jb runs into the bathroom and asked if i'm ok and I just said "Yeah I probably just picked up something from being here" he rolled his eyes "I'm not dumb, do you want me to call weston to come get you?" I nodded, "Yeah, I don't have a car here."

Jb POV:

Codi just got picked up because she wasn't feeling good but she wanted to go home anyways to help with the kids. Word has gotten out about her wreck and people have been non stop messaging me. Even Kaitlyn Davis I had no idea she knew Ada but i'm sure they have met. The vet got back to me on Bullet and said he had high traces of Ace in his systems and that's what made him fall. Somebody had to have done that to him. The doctor came in today and said that she should wake up today but she will have to stay in the hospital for the next week to make sure she is ok. I'm just worried she's not gonna wake up at all. The doctors said it's a possibility but it's very unlikely, but it's still possible. Codi texted me and told me to talk to her as much as I could... I don't know how that helps but whatever. "Hey Ada, Codi told me to talk to you. I hope you know that I sound insane right now talking to you but Codi will yell at me if I don't so here we go. You need to wake up please it doesn't have to be right now but soon please, we still have so much to do together, I have to make you my wife and go places and hopefully a mom one day, I think you will be a awesome mom..." but before I could keep going "I'm not dead cowboy"

Ada POV:
He looked like he just saw a ghost, I've been awake since he started talking to me. He immediately jumped almost on top of me being kinda careful of my left side but too caught up in me being awake to be too careful. "Ow Ow Ow careful" He sat off to the side of he bed and said "How long have you been awake, you scared me" he is still smiling like a little kid when I said "Long enough to hear that you wanna make me a mom, did you mean it?" he laughed and gave me a few little kisses around my face "Of course I meant it"
