Bad was the blood of the song in the cab
On your first trip to LA
You ate at my favorite spot for dinner
Bold was the waitress on our three year trip
Getting lunch down by the lakes
She said I looked like an American singer

Time, mystical time
Cuttin' me open, then healin' me fine
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?

Syros, 300 Years Ago

The fabric of her apricot coloured gown fluttered behind her because of the winds as she stood there on the marble and white stone balcony with her hands perched up on the pearly banister.

The warm and salty air could be tasted on the tip of her tongue as she watched the crystal clear waters splashing gently against the white sand beach far beneath the chateau she was currently standing in.

It was one of those rare occasions when her raven hair flew down till her hips in soft waves rather than the braided bun she had always preferred. There was a serene smile on her lips when she watched the swallows soaring high above in the sky.

And as she looked deeper into the horizon, she could see the cliffs of another far off island rising above the waves of the Aegean Sea that surrounded the island she and her family had currently inhabited.

That was when she sensed him standing by the doorway of the balcony which led into their bedroom. She smelled his tangerine and woodsy scent before she heard his velvety voice which was enough to soothe her racing thoughts.

"Any progress, Reina?" Nik asked as he walked towards her with a hopeful smile on his lips.

Aurelia turned around and her raven eyes met his calm gaze which resembled the gentle sea behind her; like the gentle sea, his eyes too held the potential to conjure deadly storms without a moment's notice and that thrill was something which always put her soul at ease.

"Nothing yet..." she whispered, her lips curled into a saddened smile before she shook her head and looked to her side, "there's not point to this. No one from my lineage is alive anymore and whatever wisdom my ancestors must have left behind, seems to have disappeared. It is as if we never existed at all."

Niklaus saw her face etched in sorrow and the sight pinched at his heart making him dash towards her as he cupped her cheek in his hand, "don't lose hope, darling, getting to know more about your family is the whole reason we're here. Kol and Elijah are in Peros as we speak and I am certain that they must have made some headway. Don't give up just yet, Reina."
