Jessie's P.O.V.

I was laying on my floor in my room when my phone rang. I lazily picked it up and saw it was an unknown number.

I declined the call and turned back to my homework. I got another call from the same number and frowned slightly. I declined the call again.

I watched my phone for a few moments and was satisfied when it remained quiet.

But just as I turned back to my homework, my phone began to ring again.

Angrily. I threw down my pencil. Some telemarketers are ruthless.

I picked up my phone and asked rather rudely, "Hello?"

"Hello to you too hot stuff."

I pulled my phone away from my ear and glared at it. Who the hell?!

I put my phone back to my ear and demanded, "Who is this?"

"Sexy."

"Who is this?" I asked through clenched teeth.

There was a pause and then, "Cameron, please don't...."

But it was too late, the moment he said his name I hit the end button. I then quickly blocked his number.

I turned back to my homework smiling proudly.

For the next hour or so I worked on my homework. Then I got a call from Kaylee. I picked up and said, "You will not believe what happened just an hour ago."

Then I heard distant crying and a voice said, "Hey, it's me Cameron."

I shot straight up and yelled, "What have you done to Kaylee!?"

"Nothing! Nothing!" Cameron panicked, "Just come to the park. Kaylee told me to call you."

I didn't even pause to say goodbye. I hung up the phone and slipped it into my pocket. I slipped on my shoes and began to run out the door and towards the park. My heart beat wildly as I raced down the sidewalk.

It was getting dark and some pretty creepy people normally hung around the park at this time of night. But I didn't care. Kaylee needed me and if anyone messed with me they were in for a world of pain.

Cameron's P.O.V.

"She hung up on me and blocked my number man!" I said angrily pounding my hand against the dashboard. All Shaun did was laugh. "Dude, I'm telling you. She's going to be a tough one."

I rolled my eyes and said, "How many times do I have to tell you? She's just like every other nerd girl. All you have to do is give them love, affection, and all that other girly shit they read about and they are an easy catch. I've caught all the tough one's before. This one's no different."

Shaun was quiet for a moment and then nodded his head. "Okay, you go ahead and try. Let's see how this one works for you."

I smiled smugly and leaned back against my seat, crossing my arms. I looked out the window into the park. It was dark in there.

Then I saw a flash of copper hair and and a face. I saw the girl fall to the ground. Then there was a glint of a knife.

"Stop the car!" I yelled out. Shaun slammed on the brakes and unlocking the car, I jumped out and sprinted towards the man attacking the girl.

"Get away from her!" I roared. The man stopped over the cowering figure, saw me, and turned tail. He disapeared into the woods. I stopped next to the girl and knelt down. A second later Shaun was next to me.

The girl was curled up, her face in her hands. Her body was wracked with sobs as she cried hysterically.

Shaun placed a hand on her back and rubbed it. "Hey," I said as gently as I could, "What's your name?"

The girl slowly raised her head out of her hands. I glanced at Shaun and his face looked shocked.

The girl was his lucky penny, Kaylee.

Kaylee's P.O.V.

After school I decided I would head over to Cody's place and visit him. I needed to talk about earlier, and he obviously wanted to see me.

The sky was clear and blue, so I decided I would walk over there and then I would head home.

On the way over I stopped for a few minutes at Big Boy and got a frozen coke. Who doesn't like frozen cokes?

Finally I got to Cody's apartment building and I went through the front door. I waved hi to the building manager and headed up the stairs. I sipped happily on my coke until I got to the top floor.

I adjusted my look a bit in the mirror at the end of the hallway, making sure I looked good.

Then I let myself into his room. The door was partially open as always. He wasn't right inside. But I could here noises from back in his bedroom. I noticed a spilled bottle of beer on the counter. With a sigh, I threw it away and quickly cleared up the beer.

Then I headed back to his room. He was probably playing video games or something. I opened the door and a horrible sight met my eyes.

A girl in a lacy thong and bra was laying on top of Cody kissing him. He was in his boxers and kissing her back, his hands cupping her butt. A bottle of beer lay open on the ground next to him.

I stood frozen as they turned to look at me. As soon as Cody saw me, he clumsily pushed the girl away. "Kayeeeeeeeee! This isn't what you think!" He slurred his eyes foggy. I stood my ground and asked blandly, "Then what is this?" He opened his mouth for a moment, paused and closed his mouth again, his face forming into a thoughtful look.

I sighed and walked over to him. He stood up looking hopeful, swaying slightly.

I said calmly and rather regretfully, "What a waste of a frozen coke." Then I dumped it over his head. His eyes widened as the cold drink slid down his face.

I turned to the girl, "He's not worth your time."

As I left I shouted over my shoulder, "And by the way, only dumbasses get drunk before five o'clock."

I then walked out of his apartment, slamming the door behind me. I marched down the stairs and out the door and began to walk aimlessly.

I don't know when the tears started or how I ended up in the park. But soon enough I was walking through the quickly darkening park, tears streaming down my face.

I wiped my face with sleeve of my shirt and cursed myself for being such an idiot. I should have expected this.

As I was walking I heard a twig snap and I turned around but no one was there.

I kept walking, probably a squirrel. The something suddenly hit me in the side. I fell to the ground and reflaxively got back up.

A man with a black ski mask stood there. Then he punched me in the stomach. I doubled up and fell to the ground, crying out. I saw a flash of silver and curled up into a ball trying to protect myself. If this was the end at least I didn't have to worry about Cody crying over my dead body.

But the pain never came. There was no sharp burst and then calm. No bright light. Nothing. The pain in my stomach was still there, and I cried harder. Was I saved?

A hand rubbed my back and I became aware that there were others around me. I lifted my head and looked at the two men next to me.

I hiccuped as I met their faces. "Cameron? Shaun?"
