Kaylee's P.O.V.

"Are we sure this is the right thing to do? I mean, is there some other thing that would be better or...?" I break off nervously running my fingers through my hair. I stare at the simple, brick building in front of me from the passenger seat of the car.

Johnny sat in the back seat, playing on his DS; not paying attention. A warm hand enveloped mine and I looked over into Shaun's piercing blue eyes. He nodded and said quietly, "This is right. I can feel it." I nodded and then he turned calling, "Come on bud, time to go in."

Johnny quickly stowed away his DS and unbuckled, climbing out of the car. We followed behind him as he raced to the door, and like the little gentleman he was, opened it for us. Ruffling his hair, I thanked him and walked in.

There was a pretty, middle-aged, African American lady sitting behind the front desk and when we entered, she looked up and climbed to her feet, extending her hand saying, "Hi, I'm Marsha Lembke . You must be Shaun."

Shaun took her hand and shook it saying, "Yes, this is my little brother Johnny, and my girlfriend Kaylee." I also shook her hand, and then she escorted us to a back room, telling us that she'd be back shortly with Johnny's potential foster parents.

We sat in a stiff silence for a few minutes, Shaun and I too nervous to say anything, before Mrs. Lembke was back with a couple.

They were younger looking, maybe in their late twenties-early thirties. The woman was smaller with shoulder length brown hair and a slim build. The man was about average height with a handsome face and short, dark brown hair.

They sat down in the chairs across the desk from us and smiled just as nervously back at us. "Hi, I'm Danny Jones and this is my husband, Micheal," Danny said, extending her hand. I took it and shook it, smiling.

"So, is he...yours?" Micheal asked awkwardly, his face flushing. My face flushed equally red as I quickly exclaimed, "No! There's no chance...no!" I looked at Shaun who was smirking slightly at my discomfort before he quickly cut in," No, she's just my girlfriend, and Johnny is my little brother."

"Why aren't you living with your parents?" Danny asked, confused.

Shaun glanced at me, and I nodded. If these people are willing to take care of Johnny, they should know the full story. It's only fair.

As Shaun told the story, I looked down in silence at desk. When he finished, the Jones's didn't say anything, but sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Well," Micheal said finally breaking it, "I must say, that it's quite amazing that both of you got out without wrecking up your lives." My head snapped up and stared at him in shock.

"Now, the only thing I have to say is, we'd be happy to foster him. We-we can't have children of our own, even though we've always wanted one. However, I think for all of our sake's, we might want to spend a couple of months getting to know each other, but in the end, it should really be up to Johnny."

I nodded and then turned to look at Johnny who had quietly been watching the whole time. "What do you think bud?" I asked. Johnny looked over at me and nodded, "Sounds good to me." I smile than turn to Shaun, who also nods.

The Jones's gave a simultaneous sigh of relief, and then Danny slided a sheet of paper across the table to us. "Here's all of our contact information. How would you guys like to come over to dinner tomorrow night," she then looked up at me, "You included." My heart warmed and I found myself nodding.

We all climbed to our feet, shook hands and then began to walk through the building back out to the car. I turned around to look for Johnny and was surprised to see him standing in front of Danny and Johnny. He gave them his charming little kid smile and held out his hand saying politely, "It was nice to meet you." They looked surprised by his politeness, but each took his hand in turn and said goodbye to him.

He then turned, ran over to the car, and climbed into the back. As we were driving away, Johnny said, "I like them. They seem like people who would like the zoo." I was confused, but when I looked over at Shaun he was grinning and said, "I think you're right bud."

Sorry that this is such an anticlimactic chapter. But the next one is the last, and I wanted to make sure it made a huge BOOM! I know that this was short, but I promise that I"m making the next long.
