(A/N: scoops exists, starcourt isn't a secret russian thing in this universe, and ik it's a year too early but like idc.)

"Ding ding ding!" Eddie called as he strolled into the cute little ice cream store, it was cute and sailor themed and he knew if anyone caught him in here they'd have a riot.

"What dingus? Do you have to make noise every single time you walk in? It's just me today and I am not having it." A female voice groaned from behind the counter, she was a good friend of Eddie's because of a little... secret... they both shared. Granted, they were skeptical of one another, but it was so damn obvious that they began their bond over ranting about how utterly stupid the homophobes at school were. Then it blossomed into a better friendship, they realized they had a lot in common.

"Yes, I must. I want a half chocolate half strawberry shake please." Eddie mused leaning over the counter, the place was empty because of the fact that it's way too fucking cold outside for icecream. But right outside the mall was bustling with people, especially in the food court. But most people were down the way at the warm foods restaurants, eating their fill of fried chicken and warm hot chocolate.

Robin's face lit up as she looked around the store, and then in the back. Once she was satisfied she came back to the front and stared at Eddie, who was grinning like the cheshire cat.

"Holy shit. Holy shit! Who?" Robin was now intrigued as she too leaned over the counter, Eddie pushed off of it dramatically and spun in a small circle. His face was bright with a glimmer of hope, his grin rubbing off on Robin as she laughed slightly at Eddie's theatrics.

"You will literally never guess-"

"Sorry I'm late Rob, my car was snowed in." A guy walked through the back, fixing a little sailors cap onto his voluptuous looking hair. He wore short shorts and a little scarf collar, Eddie could see everything and yet nothing at all. Eddie planted his feet on the ground to keep from falling over as Steve Harrington entered the space looking...

"fuck.."

"Oh hey Steve-o! I thought I was alone today." Robin jumped up from where she was leaning over the table and quickly turned back into "customer service Robin" with her clear speaking voice and straight spine. "So uh- What was your order sir?" Robin asked with a very clearly forced smile as Eddie just stared at Steve. Steve hadn't yet noticed, he was busy watching Robin with confusion written all over his cute as fuck- face. Written all over his face.

Eddie shook his head violently as Robin made a strained noise at him, clearly trying to get him to calm down and focus.

"You know what, maybe this guy doesn't need ice cream." Robin climbed over the counter and grabbed Eddie by the collar of his leather jacket. She pulled him over to a small booth and made sure her back was facing Steve.

"What the hell was that?!" She whisper yelled in Eddie's ear, he could tell his face was bright red by the way his entire body was heating up despite the cold inside and outside.

"I don't- I don't know Robin. Look at him." Eddie held down the urge to point and Steve, and the urge to look at him, and the urge to- Eddie shook his head again trying to clear those unwelcome thoughts.

Robin's eyes went wide with horror and she mouthed "Is it him?" and Eddie shook his head. It wasn't, it was another guy from Indianapolis, but Eddie knew Robin didn't like him going out there to meet strangers. Robin let out a sigh of relief and all but sank into the table.

"I..." Eddie whispered, leaning closer to her and still forcing himself to keep his eyes away from the counter where Steve was aimlessly wiping shit, not paying attention to them at all. "I made like, this vow to myself? Not to talk to Harrington." And Robin just popped her head up and looked at him.
