Chapter 7 : Love in the tree

As more and more lights start lighting up the Firelight sanctuary a scared Powder cries at the bottom of the tree. Curled up in a ball balling her eyes out as her mind moves a hundred miles an hour. Just then a hand reaches out touching her shoulder, without thinking Powder goes back away and attacks the person until her hand is grabbed. Ekko reaches in hugging Powder, once she realizes that the person was Ekko her hands drop as her body falls into his arms.

Her head deep in his chest crying into his shoulder, Ekko sits down rubbing his hand on her head as her body begins to wear itself out until she passes out in his arms due to the amount of crying. Ekko slips his left hand around her neck holding her head up as his left hand swoops around under her knees lifting her up, Powder's head tucked into his shoulder, both arms partially wrapped around his body.

All of her makeup was ruined falling down her face, her body covered in sweats. Ekko carried her up the stairs of the tree house, he slowly opened his door with his foot walking into his room. Walking towards his bed slowly laying Powder down onto his bed, smiling at her as she laid on her side. Her face had a blank expression. Ekko sat down next to her on the bed. His hand slowly rubbed her head as he leaned down kissing her head.

The sun rises, Powder moves her hands rubbing her eyes as she sits up in Ekko's bed. A confused look is on her face as she looks around remembering the night before. As she steps up she starts walking towards the door slowly opening it with a worried face. As soon as she sees that it's clear she steps hands hugging herself as she steps to the balcony.

Ekko being on the highest floor of the tree right under the top branch she looks over scanning the Firelights talking and riding their boards. Just then she feels two hands touching her shoulders. Her hairs stick up, head sticking out as her leg swings behind her kicking the person between the legs. Hearing a painful release of air, as she hears this she turns around going to swing on the person just as she saw the person she was going to strike and she stops with a sad and worried face. "Ekko." She said while holding his face with her hands. "I-I'm so sorry." As Ekko walks back and falls onto the bench outside of his room.

His head flops back, his face filled with pain and trying to catch his breath. Powder sits down beside him holding his hand as she is at the brink of crying. "I'm sorry." Once Ekko catches his breath he turns to Powder staring back at him, "It's-... It's fine Pow. I didn't mean to scare you like tha-." He's interrupted by Powder reaching her arms around his, head down into his chest. "I'M SO SORRY!" She yelled into his chest.

Ekko frowns, placing his arms around her. "It's ok Pow-Pow, I know you didn't mean it." Powder rises up rubbing her tears away staring into his eyes. As both of them stared at each other they both leaned into each other, lips touching as they held each other's faces. Both of their eyes closed as Powder's hands reached behind his head, rubbing and holding the back of his head. While he moved his hands down to her shoulders and to her back.

Powder moves herself straddling him, As he moves forward her legs wrap around his back holding on. As the Powder moves back from Ekko's lips grasp on hers they stare into each other's eyes. In a softer tone, "I'm sorry." Ekko smiles, still staring into Powder's eyes. "It's ok Pow, I snuck up on you and I shouldn't have."

Powder pulls herself off of Ekko standing up, she stretches her hand out as Ekko grabs her hand. Pulling him up sending her into him, Both giggle as Powder holds onto his chest piece leaning over the balcony pulling him on her, Still blinded by Ekko's eyes she raps her arms around his neck crossed between each other. "So what's happening today Boy Savior." Ekko smiles looking down at Powder, also blinded by her eyes.

"I don't know Pow, what do you wanna do?" A big grin is formed on her face as she grabs his chest plate pulling him in squeezing herself against him while keeping eye contact she leans in lips meeting Ekko's. Ekko's eyes open up as he looks down. He starts feeling her little tongue trying to slip into his. Ekko's eyes begin to close as he allows her tongues to wrap as both of them begin stumbling back slowly walking back laying against the wall right next to Ekko's door.

As the two slowly maneuver their way into the bed they begin slowly taking off their clothes only removing their lips to remove top pieces of their clothes. As Powder sits down on Ekko's bed slowly laying down as Ekko stands over her leaning down still connecting their lips. Just then Powder's eyes open with a cold stare with an ounce of worried look. She pulls away from Ekko, Ekko's face turns to a confused look. As Ekko looks down at Powder her face is covered in worry.

Her face was filled with shock, not moving. "Pow, what's wrong?" She turns to face Ekko. "I just remembered Wha-what happened last night. SILCO!" She jumps up just to be met with Ekko. "Wo Wo, Silco was here?" Powder began nodding. "Yeah, that's why I was crying, he just kept calling me a jinx." Powder covered her eyes with her hands trying to hide. "Th-the voices, that began talking again." Ekko put both his hands on her and slowly lowered them. As he looked at her she balled up into tears. Wrapping her hands around Ekko. "I'm going to go speak with the Firelights about this, I'll be back as soon as I can." Ekko began walking to the door as Powder's grip let loose. He picked up the clothes he had taken off putting them back on before walking out the door closing it behind him.

Powder sat up looking at the door wiping away her tears. "I-I love you..." Powder said while staring at the door alone on his bed, she let out a big sigh getting up before stripping herself of her clothes and walking into Ekko's bathroom. She sticks her hand in lifting a lever before the water begins flowing out of the shower handle, stepping into the shower. After thirty long minutes of scrubbing her hair she steps out of the shower with a towel above her chest.

Powder stares into the mirror hands on the sink before she grabs a pair of scissors off of the sink counter and stares back at herself in the mirror.

Caitlyn sits at her desk staring at pictures of the Enforcer's scratch marks. Vi enters her office walking over to the front of the desk. "Soo, cupcake. How's it going?" Caitlyn groans. "Awful, I can't figure out what could've done any of this." Vi walks behind Caitlyn staring at the photos. "Well it is the Undercity, maybe some sort of Shimmer beast did this." Caitlyn falls back in her chair staring at the ceiling.

"Well, that could be. How did I not think of that?" Vi smiles, putting her hand on Caitlyn's shoulder. "Well I guess I'm the better detective." Caitlyn looks over at Vi, "Well that would mean Shimmer is still being made." "You can't fully get rid of Shimmer or any drug, people can make it without Silco's big factories." Caitlyn groaned, "Well let's get to work."

As Powder left the bathroom she sat down on Ekko's bed, her hair was almost exactly what it had used to look like. Powder had cut off almost every piece of her long hair besides a short amount in which she pult into a smaller braid similar to the one she had as a kid. Getting up from the bed she walked to the door opening it. As she walked down the paths that connected the rooms of the house she could hear children laughing as they played.

She continued walking when she realized that those kids playing were the only people in the sanctuary. Everyone including Ekko had gone somewhere, as suspicion started to fill her she curiously walked around still finding no one. After searching for around ten minutes she sat down on a bench near the base of the tree. Her legs crossed as she laid back with her head pressed against the bark of the tree.

IN front of her was the entrance and exit to the sanctuary, through a system of sewers one could enter or exit through these doors but Ekko and her preferred flying over the sanctuary. Being that the tree was in the middle of a massive sewer drain and had multiple connections to around Piltover the Firelights had to block off or destroy most entrances in fear of being discovered.

Of course that secrecy has been broken with Silco's entrance. Everyone who knew was aware of this and multiple searches were held earlier on. Luckily the Firelights had found Silco's entrance and had completely destroyed it making sure he could never re enter through there again. After hours of sitting on the bench Powder began to doze off when the rock covering the entrance started moving. She quickly jumped up and walked over to the rock.


Behind the rock were multiple Firelights walking out of the sewers and into the light, just then Ekko began walking out of the rock. Just as he stepped onto the green grass he was taken aback by Powder hugging him. After the shock Ekko slowly moved his hands hugging Powder. When she pulled away her eyebrow raised while looking at Ekko. "So, where were you guys?" Ekko rubbed the back of his head while look away from Powder.

She grabbed his face, moving his eyes to hers. "Where were you guys?" She said again looking directly into Ekko's eyes. "We went to Piltover to speak with the sheriff." Powder scoffed before turning and walking away, her little braid winging with her. Ekko looked over "Hey, I like what you did with your hair.: Powder looked back with a clearly not happy face. "Thanks I guess." She mumbled under her breath before walking up the stairs of the tree. Ekko sighed watching her walk with her arms crossed.
