Hello, I'm back. I actually had motivation to write this chapter. I hope you enjoy.
...
Tommy woke up to Wilbur quietly humming a song that was playing on the radio. Phil and Techno were talking quietly in the front. When Wilbur saw that Tommy was awake, he stopped humming.
Tommy knew that he had a question to ask. Tommy also knew what question it was.
"Hey Tommy." Wilbur said quietly, "Can I ask you something?"
Tommy looked over to Wilbur and nodded his head.
"Do you have a power?"
There it is. The question every new person asks.
"Oh," he says, looking away, "I, um, don't have a power."
Wilbur looked surprised, "Oh, sorry for asking." He looked away.
Tommy was looking out of the window now. He felt his eyes water up. Focus on the landscape. Breathe. He knew he was going to cry if he kept thinking about this. He took a deep breath, then he spoke.
"It's okay." His voice shook a little bit, and he hoped that no one noticed. The back of his throat hurt. Tommy swallowed, hoping that his emotions would leave him alone.
Phil continued driving for a couple more minutes until they were in a neighborhood.
Tommy looked out and saw all of the big houses. He let in a gasp. Wow.
It was a couple of minutes until Phil pulled the car into the driveway of a large gray house.
"Home sweet home" said Phil.Tommy got out of the car and started walking up to the front door, following Wilbur. Techno was in front and Phil was behind Tommy. Techno opened up the green front door and Tommy saw a huge entry way. They all stepped inside.
The entry was huge. There was a fireplace in one of the walls. Right in front of the fireplace was a thick shaggy white rug which contrasted against the dark brown of the wooden floors. Surrounding the rug was cream colored furniture with green designs. There was two armchairs, a sofa and a coffee table. A stack of book were sitting on the glass top of the coffee table.
Tommy glanced over to the side, where he saw the kitchen. It had a island in the middle of it and all of the counters had a black marble. He looked back to the entery and finally saw the stairs. Techno was climbing up the stairway.
"I'm going big up to my room. Knock on my door if you need me."
Phil walked a bit forward then turned to Wilbur. "Wil, why don't you show Tommy to his room."
"Okay, let's go." He pointed towards the stairs. Wilbur began walking up the stairs.
Tommy followed him up. He turned around and saw Phil looking at him. He didn't know expression Phil was looking at him with. It that pity? Concern?
Tommy turned back around and continued walking up the stairs. When he go up there, he saw Wilbur waiting for him.
"That's Techno's room." He pointed toward a door. "That's Dad's room." Wilbur pointed to another door at the end of the hall. "My room and yours." He gestured to two doors that were right next to each other. "And this is the guest room." It was the door that was across the hall from Tommy's room.
Tommy walked to his room. The wall were just a plain light gray. There was a twin sized bed up against one of the walls and a desk on the other side of the room. There was a big window between the two. There was also a wardrobe on the wall at the end of the bed.
Tommy walked over there and started to unpack his stuff. Sadly, he didn't have many things. After he unpacked, Tommy sat down on the bed.
He hadn't noticed that he was really tired. His wings were also sore, but they could wait. Tommy decided that he could take a nap. Just for a little bit.
He laid down and let his eyes flutter shut.
Surprisingly, he didn't have any dreams that night.
Weird.
...
