Phil POV:

He was just a little bit stressed. If he was being honest, he didn't know why he was stressed, but he was.

Well, you see, he is a bird hybrid, and his new son doesn't know.

Yes, it had only been under a week, and Tommy already felt like a son, even though they hadn't even interacted very much.

There was this aura to the boy. Something that drew his instincts in.

Phil knew how to suppress his instinct, of course, but this boy made his instinct say all crazy thing, just like when he first adopted Wil and Techno.

Baby bird, nest, flock, family, baby, fledgling, child.

When Phil first adopted them, they already knew he was a bird hybrid. But back then, there weren't people hunting other hybrids to sell, so that made a big difference.

He knew that him and Techno and Wilbur had to tell Tommy about themselves. For example, Phil and Techno were hybrids and Wil's power can be a little bit scary sometimes.

He just didn't want to scare the kid away.

He'll wait and see, then once they get closer, they can tell Tommy.

They just have to wait to get him to trust them more.

But not to close that he would feel betrayed that they didn't tell him sooner.

This was a tricky game to play, especially if you mess, you lose someone that you feel is a family member.

Maybe that was why he was stressed.

Tommy POV:

Tommy woke up and once again, he felt amazing.

Luckily, he hadn't bound his wings last night, so they barely hurt at all, which was good progress from before.

Tommy just laid there for a hot moment, thinking. He wasn't thinking about anything in general, he was just letting his mind wander.

Can I trust them? Are they my new family?

He was conflicted in his brain. He wasn't sure if he trusted these people who had decided to foster him. He knew, deep down, that they might be really bad. But he also knew deep down that they might be good.

He was genuinely conflicted.

I'll wait and see.

Sometimes, waiting is better. That way he knows truly whether they are good or bad.

Then, once he knows, it will make him to make one of two moves.

Stay or go.

...

Tommy finally got up out of bed. He looked at his alarm clock, which he didn't set any alarms on, yet,  and it said about 8:24 am. Maybe he should get up soon. Tommy sighed.

He knew he had to go to school soon.

Every time he got fostered, he was given a week to settle in, or however time he truly needed, to the new home.
