Authors note: Hello people. I kind of screwed the posting of the last chapter. As I was editing it on two devices for a while it posted the beginning of this chapter and the not proofread version. So if you read the beginning of this chapter two days ago and were wondering what the non-English words were sorry for that. Anyway, enjoy the chapter and tahanks for your likes and comments
Vegas POV:
My blood boils as I see the drawing. What the fuck is this? I look at Pete and he looks startled. So does Macau.
"Jesus Christ what is that?" he asks. I forgot he doesn't know about the bracelet or the flowers and poem.
"Pete has been getting strange gifts. Threatening ones," I explain.
"From who?" Macau asks. For the love of god, child sometimes I think you don't have a brain. But I don't say that out loud.
"If I knew, they wouldn't be sending any gifts anymore," I say instead. I look back at Nop, who is still standing there.
"Did you ask the boy where it came from?"
"He said a stranger gave it to him three streets away from here along with 200 bahts to deliver it." What else could I expect?
"Anything else?" Nop just shakes his head.
"Then you can go," I gesture to him to leave.
"Hmm, I didn't realize mafia now started sending such cheese threats," Macau comments. I am about to tell him off but I think about it and realize he is not wrong. I mean bracelet, flowers with the poem and now drawing with heart envelope. What's next? Candles and teddy bear?"Maybe it's not mafia. Do you have some crazy stalker P'Pete?" Macau asks and looks at him but Pete doesn't respond. He is still looking at the drawing worried but curious.
"Pete?" I say with a question in my voice.
"It looks familiar. Like I've seen some similar drawings before I just can't remember where.
"Similar as in drawing of you or similar that it reminds you of someone's drawing style," I ask.
"I don't know. Maybe both."
"If you remember let us know. Brother will go and skin the person," Macau says jokingly and stands up from the chair. I spare him another angry look. This kid is getting braver and braver since he started university. He talks back, jokes like an adult, and even started training like an adult.
"If that's all...for me that is, I will be on my way. And I will be taking this little thing with me so the two of you can argue some more or..." he says and takes Venice into his hands. The little child is not pleased that he has to let go of his favourite person and starts crying a little, but Macau is already near the door and about to finish his sentence. "...or you could talk it out and have makeup sex. I vote for the other, but keep it quiet. There's a child in the house," he says and slips through the door so I don't even have a chance to react. He and I have to have a little talk sometime soon.Pete's POV:
I watch Macau close the door and I am left alone with Vegas. I don't know what university did to that kid but he is getting braver and braver. Or maybe it's just that he finally lives in a more or less (usually less) normal household without an abusive father.
I refuse to look at Vegas. I take my eyes off the door and I keep staring at the drawing trying to remember where I saw it when he reaches under the table and puts a wooden box in front of me. I recognize it immediately. It's a box of our photos and things I put in the drawer where he keeps pictures from his childhood. When I found what was in there I thought it looked depressive and I knew Vegas only opened it when he was sad. So I thought I will make him smile next time he does it. I didn't expect him to find it today though.
"If you are going to yell at me for that too..." I start, still keeping my eyes on the table.
"Let me be clear about one thing. I haven't been this angry for months now, and I am going to be angry about what you did for a while..." he pauses for a second and I dare to look at him. He looks me deeply in the eyes.
"...but I don't want to argue anymore. I would do much worse things to protect us and I know you would too, but I don't want us to keep it away from each other," he stands up and comes to stand in front of me.
"This can't happen again," he takes my face into his hands and puts his forehead on mine.
"I am sorry Vegas," I whisper.
"I wasn't able to trust anyone in my life. If this happens again I won't survive it," he whispers to my lips, slightly touching them.
"I am sorry. It won't happen again," I say and kiss him. Vegas leans into the kiss without hesitation. He pulls me out of the chair, making me stand up. I put my hands around his neck and he moves his on my hips, pulling me even closer to him as he leans on the edge of the table.
