Chapter 9: The Masked Woman

Connor and I prepared to fight, but the masked figure with red hair jumped between us. She glanced at me and drew her sword. Oki took noticed and smiled.

"Well, it looks like one of my followers wants to fight you. So stand down, for now, Connor."

Connor lowered his spear and backed away as I looked at Oki with a confused look.

"Followers? What are you talking about?"

"In due time, it will be revealed. Now I believe you have something that I need?"

I pulled out the blueprints for the machine and tossed them to Oki.

"Much obliged. You enjoy your fight now."

Oki looked at the blueprints as he continued to activate the machine, and I looked at the masked figure, examining her.

"Why do I feel like I have seen you before? Not that it matters since you'll be dead anyway."

I readied my sword as the masked woman did the same, and we charged at each other. We traded blows as our swords clashed, sending sparks into the air.

I fired a blast of energy from my hand, but the woman dodged my attack by jumping into the air. She lunged at me, but I used my shield to block her attack. She jumped back and held her sword into the air, surrounding it with fire. She sent a crescent-shaped flame toward me from her sword, but I swung my hand and dispersed the fire.

"This'll be fun."

I charged at the masked woman and swung my sword, swinging it around as I tried to land a strike, but she kept blocking my attacks. I managed to land a kick on her stomach that knocked her back. I quickly lunged toward her and thrusted my sword forward, scrapping her cheek as she dodged. She grabbed my arm and flipped me over. She raised her sword and tried to stab me, but I knocked her down by doing a leg sweep.

I quickly got up and smiled and saw her smile too. We both charged at each other, clashing out swords once more as sparks flew. Each strike I did was more powerful than before, but I knew if I wanted to fight Connor, I would have to defeat her quickly. We entered a standstill, and I gave the masked woman an offer.

"Look, this can go two ways. Either you stop fighting me and let me fight Connor. Or I kill you. What do you choose?"

The masked woman didn't say anything.

"So you choose to die. Very well then."

I surrounded my body in a white aura, sending the woman back.

"I'll make your death painless!"

I charged at the masked woman and jumped into the air, doing a downward strike with my sword. She blocked the attack, the impact creating a shockwave. The woman tossed me back and lunged at me, swinging her sword as I blocked it with my shield. I entered a stance and used my counter-skill, landing a large gash across the woman's chest when she struck me with her sword. I noticed her wound began to heal on its own rather quickly.

"So, you have regenerative capabilities as well? That's interesting."

I put my sword into my scabbard and began charging my Hyper Flash skill.

"Let's see you regenerate from this!"

I fired an energy beam toward my opponent, but she held out her sword and absorbed the beam, catching me off guard.

"What!?"

She immediately lunged toward me and swung her sword, slashing me across the chest and generating a shockwave that sent me flying into a wall. I got out of the wall as my wounds healed, wiping my mouth.
