"Jimin... it's me again." Jungkook's voice says on Jimin's voicemail. "Why won't you answer my calls or texts? It's been a week. Please answer me. I get that you're busy, but so am I and I still make time to call you. Just... get back to me when you can." The message ends.
Jimin sighs.
"You're an asshole." Hoseok glances over at his friend. "You know that, right?"
"No I'm not." Jimin frowns.
"Yeah you are. Poor guy is literally head over heels for you and you're ignoring him. Everyone saw how you guys were attached at the hip everyday up until he left." Hoseok shrugs.
"Hobi..."
"Look, all I'm saying is that if you weren't actually gonna keep in touch, you shouldn't have lied to him. I was literally standing there as you told him you'd call him tomorrow. That's cold, don't you think?"
"I agree. It's fucked, dude. I was the one who told him to promise he wouldn't forget you to anything and message you when he could. Now I just feel horrible. If I knew you'd act like this, I never would've told the poor guy that." Tae frowns. Jimin closes his eyes and rests his head against the table.
"So that's why you're forcing me to listen to the voicemails? Because you think I'm being rude or something?" Jimin asks.
"More than just rude." Tae reminds him. "A huge fucking jerk-wad ass-hat ballsack."
"Vulgar." Jimin chuckles humorlessly.
"Truth." Tae responds.
"I just don't understand why you won't text him at least. Just say you don't want to talk or something. You're seriously leading him on." Hoseok tries to tell his friend.
"It's not that simple." Jimin looks up again, cheeks red from drinking. "It's really not."
"Then please explain, because I obviously don't get it. You had a good thing going on. Just because he went back to Seoul doesn't mean it needed to stop." Hoseok sighs. "So what is it?"
"We're too different. How am I gonna keep talking to Jeon Jungkook, an idol? He's out of my reach. He's too busy for me. And not to mention he's like four hours away. Besides, I just started my internship and I don't have time for a relationship. It just wouldn't work out." Jimin explains.
"I don't believe you. If you really wanted it, you wouldn't let a dumb internship stop you. What's the real reason?" Tae crosses his arms.
"I..." Jimin bites his lip to stop himself from speaking. He doesn't want to tell the truth. He doesn't want his friends to know that he's been ignoring Jungkook because he's scared. He doesn't want to start falling for him only to get his heart crushed because he's an idol who can't make any time for him. Jimin's heart is fragile, and he just can't take something like that.
"I already told you guys." Jimin says instead, sticking to what he had said earlier.
"Whatever, man. We're just trying to help you." Hoseok sighs.
"You guys are such a buzz kill. Weren't we supposed to have fun tonight?" Jimin groans. He pulls his phone out of his pocket and scrolls through his contacts before finally clicking on one: Yoongi.
