Stranger Things: Mileven Moments

When I'm alone

Age: 15

El's POV:

Hopper is at work. I'm home alone. Home alone. Like always. I sigh and flop onto my bed. I'm always alone. School is almost out, but not yet. That means I can't hang out with Mike or Max or the rest of the party. Hopper is letting me go to school next year, he just didn't want me to go after the whole "Mall fire" scenario.

I wish I could go though. It sounds fun. I would get to be a normal kid everyday and hang out with my friends. It's not fair. I'm so bored. I counted down the minutes until school was out and then I  used my intercom to reach Mike. My mind always went to him first, not to be rude to all my other friends, But he is my boyfriend.

"Hey Mike" I say, hoping he can hear me. "Hi El!" He says back. I let out I sigh of relief. "Want to join me and the party? We are heading over to the arcade." He says to me. "I wish I could but Hopper isn't here and I have to ask him first." I say angrily. "Oh... it's okay. Maybe since tomorrow is a weekend you can come over?" Mike suggests.

"I'll ask" I say back. "I just hate being alone. There is nothing to do, and I can't go anywhere with you guys."
I only hear silence on the other end. "Mike? Mike?" I ask, seeing if he's still there. No response. I throw the intercom across the room.

Great. I can't go out with my friends or talk to Mike. I hate being alone.

Mike's POV:

After I tell the party the new plan , we change direction. I feel so bad that El has to stay locked up all day and not have any fun. So instead of going to the arcade, we are all going to Hopper's Cabin. After we get there, we quickly hop off our bikes and over the tripwire. We head to the front door and I knock.

I'm so excited to surprise El.

El's POV:

I hear a knock on the door. I guess Hopper is home early. I unlock the door and swing it open. But instead of Hopper standing there, Mike wraps me in a hug. "Mike!" I exclaim. I look behind him as he let's go. The whole party is here.

"I thought you guys were going to the arcade..." I trail off. "Well, we were. And then Mike had to be all lovey dove and say 'El needs us!'." Max says sarcastically. I laugh and hug her. I let them all in. We play board games and eat eggos until they have to go.

Mike stays a little longer then the rest of them. We sit on my bed reading magazines together. Suddenly,  Mike leans in and kisses me. "What was that for?" I ask him. "For being the best girlfriend in the world. " He replies. "You're the one who came all the way out here for me." I protest. He just silences me with another kiss. I return it. We both melt into each other's warmth.

And just like that, it's 6:00 pm and Mike has to go.

As I hug Mike goodbye I whisper, "Thank you. Because when I'm alone, all I want is for you to be here, and you came."
