Volume 77: Night before the Battle

(Medina's POV)

Alice: We just looked at the Eastern Gate. There's not much time before the gate's destroyed and the enemy pushes through.

Alice reported the current durability of the Eastern Wall to her apprentice.

About ten minutes ago we landed in the Integrity Knight camp where they have been training the army for the upcoming battle. The first knight we encountered was Eldrie, Alice's predecessor, and we began discussing the current status of the Eastern Gate.

Eldrie: The enemy army has about 50,000 troops. We have 3,00. We have to give them what training we can.

Eldrie slightly lowered his gaze, he wasn't confident in those numbers.

Alice: Where are the other Integrity Knights? Aren't there supposed to be Thirty Two? Because I saw sense about only seven here.

I said, my hand resting on top of the hilt of my sword.

Eldrie looked ashamed

Eldrie: That's everyone.

This very much surprised all of us from that information.

Kirito: Wha... That can't be.

Kirito whispers trying to think of the reason why.

Eldrie: Surely you're aware, Lady Alice. That Prime Senator Chudelkin had been using a retuning art on knights who showed symptoms of memory issues. Ten of those Knights have yet to awaken from that art.

Alice recoiled in surprise, I can't say I wasn't surprised at her reaction.

Eldrie: Ten of the knights were instantly put out of commission before the battle even began. At this time, 21 knights are awake. Four are watching over the Cathedral and the Capital, and Four are patrolling the End Mountains.

Eldrie spoke with the grim look on his face still there.

Eugeo: Thirteen left?

Eldrie: Our forces are stretched too thin.

Eldrie glanced at me as well, I wasn't wearing my armour but he didn't seem to care. "I'm glad that both of you decided to return. And them.

A voice came from behind us. I turned around to see an older man with a Kimono that was open in front. A wide sash tied around his midsection at a low point. On his left hip was a simple longsword that had been thrust carelessly into his belt. And on both of his feet were Geta.

Compared to the others he was dressed very lightly but the aura around him told me he didn't need the armour that the others wore right now. The man rubbed at his short-cropped hair, a faded blue colour that matched his clothes, and smirked.

????: Yo, Little one. Youngsters. How is it going, Yami?

I raised an eye wondering how he knew Yami's name since I haven't met this person at all. Eugeo recognized him and that's when the memories came flooding into my head, he was there when Eugeo battled in that bath chamber.

Medina: Bercouli, right?

I pointed a finger at him making sure I got his name right.

Bercouli: Yup.

He hopped down from the little hill he was standing on.

Bercouli: this is our first official meeting since I heard of a new addition to the Integrity Knights.
