I wasn't sure why I had yet to give up on my quest for musical entertainment on my walk to the diner as I was practically there, keeping myself busy with mindlessly scrolling through songs that, at least at the moment sounded uninteresting to my nerves.
I found myself 'singing' the well known song quietly to myself in whispered mumbles, each step on a easily traversed sidewalk known like second nature...a mirror to the eyes that followed.

"So far...it's been alright. It's a pleasure to see you." I respond, taking out the ear bud before placing it in my pocket. "You're here earlier than usual. Busy night ahead?"
"I suppose you can say so, yes. Just stopping by for a quick refreshment before work...another late shift might be ahead of me."
My frame moves to walk passed him as I chuckle, the door opening at my hand and I gesture for the man to head inside the warm establishment.
