"Draco? Are you in there?"
I knock lightly on his dorm door, waiting. No answer.
"Dray... please. It's me."
There's a pause, just long enough to make me think he won't open it at all. Then the door creaks open.
He's standing there, composed as ever. No tears, no visible anger. Just that familiar, controlled expression.
It's so very Draco.
"Hi," I say softly, offering him a small, apologetic smile. "I'm sorry."
He shrugs like it doesn't matter and steps aside to let me in.
"I mean... it's Parkinson," he mutters as I walk past him. "What did I expect?"
I close the door behind me with a quiet sigh.
"You expected to be treated properly," I say, sitting down beside him. "That's not unreasonable, you know."
He lets out a short breath, running a hand through his hair before glancing at me.
"Is it bad," he starts, hesitating slightly, "that I didn't even like her? Not really. I mean, she's attractive, I suppose. But I wasn't with her because of that." He pauses. "I just didn't want to be alone."
There's something honest in the way he says it, stripped back, unguarded.
I nod slowly. "That's not bad. It just means you were trying to fill something."
He looks down, quieter now.
"But you don't have to do that," I continue gently. "You're not alone, Draco. You've never been."
He doesn't respond, so I go on.
"I love you. Theo loves you. Even Mattheo, he'd never admit it properly, but he does." A small smile tugs at my lips. "We're not going anywhere. You don't need to chase something just to feel wanted."
His shoulders drop slightly, the tension easing just a fraction.
"And if, one day, you meet someone who actually sees you, properly, then that's wonderful," I add. "But you don't have to force it."
He nods, slow and thoughtful, but his expression shifts again, guilt creeping in.
"I treated you terribly," he says quietly. "Again." His voice tightens. "I ruin everything."
He drops his head into his hands.
I don't hesitate. I move closer and wrap my arms around him, pulling him into a hug.
"You didn't ruin anything," I murmur. "I'm still here, aren't I?"
He doesn't pull away.
"I'm not leaving you again," I continue, more firmly now. "You can try and push me away if you like, it won't work this time."
He lets out a shaky breath.
"I'm sorry she hurt you," I add softly. "You didn't deserve that. You deserve... more than this, Draco. You always have."
He lifts his head slightly, looking at me.
"You're my best friend, Dais," he says. "You know that, right?"
I smile, brushing a strand of hair from his face. "And you're mine."
His expression falters again. "I'll never forgive myself for what I did to you."
I shake my head gently. "You don't have to carry that forever. I've already forgiven you."
He looks at me like he doesn't quite believe it.
"We've still got time," I say. "Here, and after Hogwarts. We're not just... ending when this place does. We'll figure it out. Together."
He studies me for a moment, then finally, finally, there's a small smile.
"You're unbelievable, Dais. You know that?"
I grin, nudging him lightly. "I try."
I stand, holding out my hand. "Come on. I want ice cream."
He raises an eyebrow. "Ice cream?"
"I've heard it's what Muggles do when they're sad."
He pulls a face. "Muggles. Disgusting."
I lightly smack the back of his head. "Oh, shut up."
A quiet laugh escapes him, the first real one since I arrived.
"Come on," I say, wiggling my fingers. "The boys are probably wondering where we are."
He looks at my hand for a second... then takes it.
And just like that, he's not quite as broken as he was a moment ago.-
