Your POV

You were used to seeing rough things, things that the average person would not be able to take. You had to be able to handle it, given that your job had you witness terrible acts nearly every day, but that doesn't mean that it didn't take a toll on you.

The case today was particularly rough. It involved a bunch of young children dying. Your heart always goes out to those that are most vulnerable, especially children. The fact that this UNSUB had killed so many children had the whole team having a tough time, not just you.

You were taking it even harder than you normally would, though, given that you were already in an emotional state due to your mother being in the hospital. She had been repeatedly getting really sick lately, and today she was admitted to the hospital. She texted you and insisted she is fine, but you know your mother good enough to know that she's too stubborn to admit how she's really feeling.

Because your head was not in the game, you were zoning out for a majority of the case, and the rest of the time you were making rash decisions, which was quite unlike yourself. You tried your best to hide it, but your teammates' job is to analyze behaviors, so you knew they noticed.

Luckily, for you, they did not mention it, even after the case was over.

Now, you were back and the precinct and had a lot of paperwork to do before heading to the hospital. You tried to focus on the paperwork, but all you could think of was your mom.

"(Y/n)," Hotch's voice came from his office. You looked up to see him standing in the doorway. "Can I speak to you for a moment?"

You placed the pen in your hand on top of your paperwork before standing up and making your way over to Hotch. He held the door open for you until you made your way into the office, and then closed in gently.

"What's up, Hotch?" You asked.

"I wanted to ask if you were all right? You were not acting like yourself today."

Damn profilers.

"I'm okay, just tired," You said.

"You know that doesn't work with us. If you don't want to share, that's all right, but we just want to know if you're okay."

"I'm okay, Hotch, really." You swallowed thickly, trying your best not to let tears well in your eyes. "My mom got admitted to the hospital. She says she's okay, but I can't help but be worried about her."

"Go see her."

"I have so much work to do, I'm almost falling behind as is."

"We'll get it done, I promise. Go ahead, (y/n). Go see her."

"Thank you, Hotch. That really means a lot."

"It's nothing. Just get some rest, all right? I won't mention anything to the others. Remember that we're always here for you."

You nodded. "I know. I will see you tomorrow."

"No rush, take the time you need."

A/n: I didn't know how to end it properly but I know I wanted to keep it as a short little snippet.

The next chapter is coming soon, and it's for Morgan.

See ya next time, my dudes!
