Your POV

It had been about six months since Aaron and Jack came over to your house for the first time. Since then, they had been over about twice week for supper and the occasional lunch. Jack was over even more, as he would sometimes stay over if Aaron had to go on a case. It was a big step in your relationship, especially since the two of you had only been dating for five months now.

    TW (Abortion)

You had never felt like this before. You thought that you had things good with your ex, that is, until he started getting verbally abusive and even was going to force you to abort your child. Leaving him was easy after he said that--you were gone the next day, making a life for you and your future son all on your own.

TW Ended

But you weren't on your own anymore, you had Aaron and Jack, and you already felt like you wanted them to be in your life forever. (s/n) had already felt like that for months now. Both him and Jack were practically brothers. It was the happiest you had ever seen your son, and in turn that made you even happier--if that was even possible!

To further your point about your son being happy with Jack, you could hear them laughing about something from the other room. They were playing some game like they did a lot. As much fun as you had playing games with (s/n), it was good for him to have someone else to play with, and you knew that Aaron felt the same way with Jack.

Speaking of Aaron, there were three short knocks on the door before the man in question walked inside. The boys heard the knocks and ran to the door, knowing who it was.

"Daddy!" Jack yelled, running into Aarons arms.

"Hey, bud," Aaron said. He looked tired. He probably had a crazy day at work (when does he not?), but he smiled brightly as he held Jack.

He hugged him for a few seconds before pulling away and ruffled (s/n)'s hair, making him smile. You knew that (s/n) absolutely adored Aaron. He was the closest thing to a dad that (s/n) ever had. He really looked up to Aaron.

"Look what the cat dragged in," You teased.

"Haha very funny." He walked over and pulled you close, placing a kiss on your lips, which never failed to fill your stomach with butterflies. The two boys definitely did not appreciate the kiss like you did, because they ran off, chanting a chorus of 'ews', making you and Aaron laugh.

"How was work?" You asked him.

     "Crazy... tiring."

     "Why am I not surprised?"

You turned around to attend to the pot that you had on the stove. Aaron's arms wrapped around you from behind and he pressed a kiss to your neck. "I missed you."

"It's only been a few days, silly."

"Doesn't feel like enough. I want to see you more."

You agreed with that. "Are you proposing something?"

"Yeah, to you." Aaron got down on one knee.

     You gasped.  "Aaron.."

He smiled and pulled a box out of his pocket and opened it to reveal the most beautiful ring you had ever seen. "(y/n)... I know that we haven't known each other long, but I don't want to waste any more time... I haven't had anyone since Hailey died. I wasn't the same after what happened to her, but with you I am finally happy. I love everything about you, even when you make fun of me when we play Mario Kart."

He paused and the two of you laughed. "You've been getting better," You admitted.

"Yes, now hush." You stopped laughing, but you didn't stop smiling. "But I especially love how you treat Jack like he's your own, and that love for him makes me realize that I want you to be a part of our lives forever. So--" He took the ring out of the box and grabbed your hand before tenderly sliding the ring on your finger "--(y/n)(l/n), will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

Tears made their way down your face. You couldn't believe that this was happening to you--you couldn't believe that you were this lucky.

     "Yes, a thousand times yes."

He quickly stood up and hugged you tightly. You continued to lightly cry into his shoulder until the boys walked into the room.

"Mommy, why are you crying? Are you hurt?"

You pulled away from Aaron to look at (s/n). "No, sweetie, I'm just happy is all."

     "What happened?"

You kneeled down and held his shoulders. "Aaron just asked me to marry him. Is that okay?"

(S/n) looked at Aaron and then back to you. "Would that mean that he would be my dad?"

"Yes, he would be your dad."

A bright smile grew on your son's face. "Then yeah, that's fine."

"And that would mean you'd be my brother!" Jack piped in.

It seemed like that thought didn't even occur to (s/n) yet, because as soon as Jack said it the smile on (s/n)'s face got brighter yet. "Is that true, mommy? Will Jack be my brother?"

     "Yes, sweetheart."

You felt like your heart couldn't handle anymore, so when the two boys hugged each other you felt as if you could burst. A fresh wave of tears rolled down your face, and when you looked at Aaron you swore that you could see some brimming those dark eyes of his.

Jack looked up at you. "And you'll be my mommy."

You laughed and nodded at the same time. Suddenly Aaron was scooping the four of you up into a family hug. A family hug... you had never felt more at home.
