Your POV
You were plenty used to keeping secrets. Everyone kept secrets from their parents and friends when they were growing up, whether they didn't want to get in trouble for something, or they needed to tell a quick white-lie to a friend to avoid hurting their feelings. With hindsight, you realized just how much of your life was being hidden, your reality much unlike the fabricated lie that you told other people.
When your powers developed around the age of five, your parents quickly turned to the organization S.H.E.I.L.D. for answers. While you are not affiliated with them any longer, they gave your parents answers to what was happening to you, though why it happened in the first place was a mystery. Your parents immediately pulled you out of school and began to homeschool you in hopes to keep your powers a secret.
Interactions with other children were kept to a minimum. Your parents always told everyone you had terrible social anxiety and were prone to getting very sick.
Only when you got older were you able to begin to reintroduce yourself to society. You had full control of your powers and knew better than to let other people know about them.
That is, except for the small group of superheroes that you worked with, called the Nova League, who protects those that are in need.
It wasn't a surprise that you fell in love with someone who also likes to protect others, though he does not have powers like you. His name is Derek Morgan and he works for the FBI as a Behavioral Analyst. He thinks that you are a Community Health Representative who travels around the country to help communities aid safety practices, procedures, and resources to their citizens. The lie is convincing, given that you always leave and return from work wearing professional clothing, not to mention that you have mastered the act of keeping secrets.
