This continues from when grian wakes up, after xisuma is done with the little present he made for the sleeping hermit.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Grian layed eyes on the random chest that mysteriously appeared next to him. He must have drifted off to sleep at some point, considering he just woke up. From the looks of it the chest doesn't look rigged but he couldn't be too sure.

He didn't particularly feel like dying right now. After staring for a bit he noticed something obvious right in front of his vision.

'It has a sign on it? How come I missed that?'

He thought as he lowered his eyes to read the sign. He figured he was probably just tired and that's why he didn't notice sooner, not that it really mattered. The sign should say what it is, so grian took a closer look shifting forwards.

"No matter what you have or you can do, you are still grian. And you're the best grian in the world."

That definitely caught grian of guard.

'Who would have done this?'

He thought to himself, his body relaxing quickly. Although still suspicious of the mysterious chest, he felt happy at that one little sign. There's no way to explain this feeling directly with words. Because Grian knows the other hermits care about him, and he cares about himself. But just seeing the sign right in front of his eyes showing it, makes him feel this sort of way.. an irreplaceable feeling of appreciation.

He was no longer fearful of the chest and opened it up to see what's inside. Not that it really mattered to the short hermit, that sign gave him the reassurance he never knew he needed alone. But what's inside the chest is even more meaningful.

A elytra and a book?.. The elytra wasn't brand new, grian could definitely tell that. But the enchantments on it.. made it seem like someone's main elytra. Grian was utterly confused so he picked up the book laying beside it hoping to find who did this. But the book was even more of a shock with the title of, "The Grain Log".

What could this possibly be? He quickly discovered it after flipping through a few of the hundred pages in this book. The pages were filled with achievements and pranks.. done by him? The book had everything he's ever done that was recognizable and amazing.

He sat there for a good few minutes scrolling through the pages, till he got to the last one that read,

"Grian has so many more I need to put down, so this is part 1 of the Grian log!"

Grian was amazed at the effort put into this book.. everything he's done that was good was in it. Making him realize almost everything. Of Course the occasional something about his flying, but it wasn't the main focus at all! He's done a lot that he never even took into consideration. He immediately went to see who signed the book in his hands, not surprised to see the familiar name. "Xisuma." Grian muttered aloud with a small smile on his face. He could feel his eyes watering his skin a bit, but they were not tears of sadness. They were tears of happiness, appreciation, and comfort.

He quickly wiped his tears away with his sleeves and steadied himself from crying. He looked at the elytra xisuma had given him for a second before leaving it behind in the chest.

"I think I'll take a walk instead."

He said with a genuine smile on his face, getting ready to get going on his regular happy life. Although it's hard to get used to it, he reminded himself everyday without the elytra about the book. He read through it whenever he felt down and even started jolting down his achievements and things he's proud of himself.

A little writing can reach the heart so far down, that it will write itself. And he knows one day after this insecurity fully fades away from his head, he won't need the book anymore. But he will always have it to look back at. Not that the experience was fun, but the appreciation and joy was.

The recovery is something he'd like to remember every now and then. He doesn't need his elytra but that doesn't mean he stopped using it completely. He's just more in touch with himself and soul. And plans to do that for the rest of his brighter days ahead.

"The human mind when upset likes to block out the good things. When opened up to this hidden world, it seems brighter in every room you walk into."
