“Thankyou for your time, you may bring Jude back tomorrow, just consider this a half day suspension”, Mrs. Killian said.

Stef nodded ,“Okay, I will”.

Mrs. Killian glanced at Jude ,“And I expect to have better behavior from you tomorrow”.

Jude continued to look down.

Stef nudged him a little.

Jude looked up ,“Yes ma'am, I'll be better tomorrow”, he said.

She smiled ,“That is good to hear, well, I have to go collect my class from recess so you two are free to go, it was nice to meet you Stef”, she said, heading for the door.

Stef waved ,“Nice meeting you”, she said.

Jude sat quietly in the back of the car, nervously playing with his fingers.

He cautiously looked up to the rear view mirror, but spotted Stef's eyes, and quickly looked down.

“I'm really sorry mommy”, Jude said.

Stef tapped her fingers on the steering wheel ,“Yes, I know, you've told me”.

“Am- um, Am I in trouble”, he asked.

Stef raised her eyebrows ,“I do believe so”, she said.

Jude nodded.

After not too long, they pulled into the driveway.

Stef got out of the car, still in her work clothes and opened the door for Jude.

Jude unbuckled and cautiously stepped out of the car.

Stef shut the door and led her son inside.

“I'd like you to go sit on my bed please, I've got to call your mother, and then I will be up there”, she said.

Jude hesitated a little.

“That means right now”, Stef said firmly.

“Um, why are you calling mama”, he asked.

“Because I am sure she would like to know about your behavior in school today”, Stef said.

Jude frowned ,“Do you have to tell her”, he asked.

Stef smiled a little ,“Yes, I do, me and your mama are a team, and we both have to talk about these things”, she explained.

Jude nodded ,“Oh”.

Stef turned him in the right direction ,“Now that you understand, I'd like you to wait on my bed please”, she said.

Jude tried to turn towards Stef ,“But-”.

“No buts Jude, I am not playing this game with you, you know what you did today was not okay, and that's all there is to it, I am not going to ask you again”, Stef said.

Jude nodded and slowly walked towards the stairs.

“I don't understand Stef, Jude's never done anything like this before”, Lena said.

Stef held the phone up to her ear ,“I'm telling you Lena, that is what his teacher told me”.

“He must've got provoked or the kid is lying about the whole thing”, Lena said.

Stef rubbed her forehead ,“Lena, the kid had chili all over his clothes, he wasn't making up too much”, she said.

“I just can't believe it”, she said.
