WHOOPS! I FORGOT TO POST THIS FRIDAY!

Clara finished serving a man an ice cream cone when she spotted her brother and his group of friends walking through the entrance of the shop. She groaned loudly to show her irritation. "Mike! Stop using me! I have more of a purpose as a sister."

"No, you don't."

Clara smacked Mike at the side of his head causing him to shout in pain and pout like a little kid.

"Really? Again?" Steve intervened when he slid the backroom windows open. "Clara, don't beat up your brother. I can handle this."

The kids started to follow Steve as Clara looked back at him with a grateful smile. "Thank you, Harrington."

Steve guided the kids through the back of the store to go through their shortcut. The group took advantage of the fact that Clara and Steve worked at Scoops Ahoy. The store that's in the same mall as the local movie theater. They always would use them to get in the movie without paying. The two teens found it clever at first before it got irritating.

Steve walked into the front of the ice cream shop as Clara finished talking to another customer. "You seriously got to get them to stop doing that."

"I tried to tell Mike that but he still does it anyways." Clara told him.

Steve sighed as he leaned back against the wall. "Out of all the places, we could've worked at, we chose an ice cream shop."

"It's summer. Ice cream and hot weather is a good combination for the green to come in." Clara reminded him.

Steve nodded in agreement before everything got dark. All of the lights in the mall went out causing slight panic to the customers. Clara and Steve looked around them trying to find what happened to the lights.

"That's weird."

Steve walked towards the light switch and started flipping the switch up and down. Clara crossed her arms over her chest as she watched him. "You know that isn't going to work?"

"Oh, really?"

He continued flipping the switch but started doing it faster. Clara rolled her eyes and snickered at the boy. "Steve, you may be pretty and have pretty privilege but it's not going to work."

Right after she spoke, all the lights in the mall turned back on. They heard some people cheer as the lights started to turn back on slowly. Clara sighed as Steve looked at her with curious eyes. "You think I'm pretty?"

Clara ignored the question and started scooping up mint chocolate chip ice cream.

...

"Alrighty, one scoop of chocolate. That's a buck-twenty-five." Steve spoke to the female customer at the counter. "Anything else? Ooh, Purdue. Fancy."

"Yeah, I'm excited." The girl smiled.

Steve started rummaging through the cash register to give the girl her change. "Yeah, you know, I considered it, Purdue, but then I was like, you know what? I really think I need some real-life experience, you know, before I hit college, see what it feels like. Kinda like, uh, I don't know, see what it's like to earn a working-man's wage, you know? Uh..." The register started beeping loudly causing Steve to stop his rambling. "Oh, I'm sorry. I think that's, like, really important."

"Yeah, totally." She nodded.

"Yeah, anyway, this was, like, so fun. We should kind of like, you know, I don't know, maybe hang out this weekend or..." Steve tried flirting with her before accidentally dropping her change. "Oh, sorry about that. Uh... I don't know. Maybe next weekend or..."
