After everything that happened with the upside down, Clara shut down. She couldn't handle going back to her normal life. In everyone's words, she was different. She ignored everyone, got drunk almost every night and she had a poor attitude that made her friends become distant.

Except for Steve Harrington.

Since the night at the Byers House, Steve attempted to be a better person. Him and Nancy got back together after she forgave him. Him and Clara became close, like really close until the night of January 8th, 1984.

Steve and Clara's last conversation before then was when she was helping him with his algebra homework. She was a sophomore and he was a junior but she understood the algebra once she caught a glimpse of his work.

Clara had to leave his house when she noticed it was an hour before her curfew. She knew it would take almost an hour to bike to her house so she got a headstart.

Karen was finished packing up her dinner leftovers for Clara when she heard the front door open. She looked to the door to see Clara walk through the door. She noticed that her eyes were puffy and red and she was covered in dirt. The dirt scattered from her arms down to her jeans, leaving her a mess.

Karen stared at her daughter with wide eyes. "Honey, what happened?"

Clara glanced at the spots of dirt on her body before looking up to her mother. "Oh, I fell off my bike, it's fine."

"Let me help clean you up." Karen offered.

"No, no." Clara shook her head quickly. "I'm fine. It's fine. I'm just going to hop in the shower."

Karen struggled to respond as she nodded. Clara sped up the set of stairs and made her way to her upstairs bathroom.

Karen knew something was up with her daughter but decided not to bother her. She remembered being Clara's age and remembered when she felt the need to be alone.

After that night, Clara changed jurassicly. She changed so much that she didn't even wake up in her bed anymore. She always woke up in another's.

Clara groaned as she sat up in the bed, covering herself up with the bed's comforter. She looked at the clock on the nightstand next to the queen sized bed to see it was 6:42. If she could sneak back home before her mother woke up, she would be off the hook. Clara turned back to see a boy, sleeping beside her.

She met the boy at a party that she heard about from a few people. He found her attractive and asked to take her back to his place when Clara agreed.

The girl tore the comforter off of her before she walked across the bedroom and grabbed her clothes off the floor. She slid on her jean pants and buttoned them up before she put on her shirt. She grabbed her sneakers that were placed beside where her clothes were before she walked towards the bedroom window.
