Chapter 16 - Blue Tattoo?

Everything should be back to normal.

Should being the key word.

It's been two weeks since Hiccup has been cured. In those two weeks, I have almost finished my little projects. I read more into the book that Angel Grope or something wrote; about some herbs and medicines, and a tinsie bit on the Darksouls. I have flown on Ruthless, taught the dragon riders more stuff, visited Luna and Althea, I even searched for that lady in the blood red coat, but I found nothing. I have also become good with Gobber, so nothing should be wrong.

Again. Should being the keyword.

It's Hiccup. It's always Hiccup, isn't it? Well he is...acting...depressed. It's like the cheery Hiccup from two weeks ago has vanished into thin air.

He has bags under his eyes, he looks slightly thinner and his skin is getting paler. He hasn't talked to Astrid, cause she hasn't been able to get out of bed. I haven't seen him eat in a while also, and I haven't seen him sleep either. Sure, he lays in the bed next to me, facing the wall, but I know he isn't asleep. I have no idea if he is actually getting sleep at all.

I want to fix this. I really do, but who can I go to? Not Valka. She'd worry too much, and I don't want her to worry. Astrid? No, and won't help. Gobber? Maybe.

I walk into the forge, forgetting to duck so a frying pan slaps me in the forehead. I stumble back, clutch my face.

"Oh gods Ember! You alright!" asks Gobber, coming over to me.

"Yeah" I groan. "This stupid frying pan is in the way."

Gobber chuckles, steering me into the forge. He sits me down on a chair, and grabs some ice from the ice box he has. He wraps it up in a cloth and gives it to me, pressing it to my forehead.

"You feel better?" he asks.

I nod. "Thanks Gobber" I croak.

He nods, smiling and going back to whatever he was doing. I bite my lip, looking to the ground.

After I had roared at Gobber two weeks ago, he chuckled, saying it was okay.

He seemed....a bit too breezy about it. A bit too forgiving.

Stop worrying Ember. You are always worrying.

"Er...Gobber" I say, and he looks to me.

"Yeah?"

"Where's Hiccup? Isn't he meant to be making saddles?"

Gobber sighs, banging his hammer on something. "I said if he ever didn't feel like making saddles, that he doesn't have to. And he's doing some other chief stuff."

I raise an eyebrow, looking to where a line of Vikings should be, waiting impatiently for their saddles.

But they aren't there.

"What's with the villagers? Where are they?"

Gobber shrugs. "They ain't too fond of Hiccup. Sure, he's cured, and he is chief. But they are still...wary of him, I guess. And they have been writing down their orders and giving them to me."

I groan, pressing the ice harder to my head. "I thought you couldn't make saddles?"

He chuckles, "I can't! Thats the thing. We have about twenty saddles needing to be done, but no Hiccup."

I look to Gobber and I see him polishing some new dragon teeth.

"Hey Gobber."

"Yeah Ember?"
