"oh."
the two stand in front of a restaurant, both completely expecting to dine in and shovel japanese cheesecake into their mouths and talk about whatnot as the second part of their so-called date, but...
closed.
completely deserted and lifeless in there.
"fuck," jisung hears minho mutter beside him as he takes his phone out in a hurry.
"out of all the days, they're closed today." minho breathes in disbelief. he seems like he really can't process the fact that this mere restaurant is closed. he seems all too bothered by it. "this is all going downhill."
a quick recap; right after minho hadn't totally dragged jisung out of his shift a few hours back, he had set him in his car and they were right off for sushi. jisung was so idea about this whole thing being the exact prospect of a date. even though he hadn't been asked out directly, what else was he supposed to call this outing of theirs? especially if it was just the two of them? hanging out? alone...
sushi sounded amazing and jisung internally felt his heart beat right out of his chest because sushi was their number one bonding food. was. or maybe it still is? jisung could change that.
so with the thought of catching up with his ex in mind over their mutually favorited food, jisung was sure this was going to be the best day ever, for real! except, maybe... things... didn't go to plan?
for one, the line was long. extremely long. and, for such a small place tucked into a corner of the street, it did get a lot of customers. more customers, more wait time. more customers, more people. more customers, less seats.
when it was finally their time to come eat, minho had apologized countless times because of how bad he felt for making the boy wait for so long. jisung shrugged it off. he could give two fucks if they had to wait two hours. as long as he was spending time with minho. their table was ready and jisung was ready to enjoy his time on the date when—
they are hit with the fact that they have a one hour time limit and they have no chairs.
...at least they have a stand up table though.
but that wasn't the point. the point is that they had to stand up in an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant and they had a damn time limit too.
the gods weren't on their side today.
the food was good... but jisung was just the smidgest bit uncomfortable.
it was all because of the environment of course, not because of minho. there were a million ways that their date could have gone but it just so happened to go the very inconvenient way.
of course, as it was part of his nature, minho felt extremely guilty about it. he kept slipping in an apology every minute or so and when jisung had enough of all the useless apologies, he had shoved a spicy tuna roll into his mouth. that shut him up.
so even if the first part of their evening wasn't as enjoyable as they both expected it to be, it still worked for them. they still ate together, still talked together, still spent time with each other. minho insisted he'd make it up to him in a great way.
they still had that cheesecake place they had to go to and it wasn't the end of their date yet!
everything would be made up over several slices of cheesecake, but...
"i'm so sorry, i really didn't know they were going to be closed today." minho looks so stressed as he scrolls frantically on his phone.
truly, it isn't that deep or upsetting that they didn't get to eat some cheesecake for dessert, but the fact that minho genuinely looks like he feels bad is just so cute to jisung.
