Third Person POV

After a few minutes, Y/N made her way down to the dining area where everyone was seated

"Sorry I'm late. I was trying to calm down my nerves" Y/N said truthfully

"Aw, no need to be nervous dear. We won't hurt you, unless you hurt our Manibear of course" Andrea said a broad smile on her face

"I'm Andrea by the way but you can call me Mama Drea" she added shortly after before pulling the French woman into a hug

The hug reminded Y/N of her mother's warm embrace and she fought the tears from falling

"I'm Y/N, its lovely to meet the woman that gave me Normani" Y/N said introducing herself to Normani's family as she pulled away from Andrea's hug

Derrick sat in his seat looking Y/N up and down as if trying to analyze the police lieutenant

"Oooh, you must be the one that's been making my Manibear smile like she win the lotto" Barbara stated

"Come here and give mama some sugar" she added with arms wide open

A grin made it's way to Y/N's face as she walked over to the old woman

After their greeting, they all sat and started to feast on dinner

"This is delicious. Mani you made this?" Derrick asked as he turned to his daughter

"No daddy, Y/N did" Normani answered a proud look on her face as she glanced at her girlfriend beside her

"Oh" Derrick said before grabbing his glass and taking a sip of his drink

"You made the drink though right? This pink drink is fabulous" Derrick questioned

"No dad. Dinner was made by Y/N, from the appetizers to dessert" Normani said giving credit

"Oh so you are a chef?" Andrea asked

"Oh goodness no. I'm a police lieutenant" Y/N answered

Derrick cleared his throat while Andrea and Barbara nodded and smiled accepting the French woman's answer

"How'd you learn to cook like this? This is more than delicious, close to my cooking yet not so close, we all know gramdma's cooking is the best" Barbara asked which caused everyone at the table to laugh at her humor

Y/N chuckled before she answered

"That's entirely true and I learned from my mom, may her soul rest in peace"

Ana and Y/N's head bowed in reverence and everyone immediately felt sympathy for the two

"I'm sorry for your loss. What about your dad? Is he in the pictire?" Derrick asked

Y/N was shocked that he was actually speaking to her but she answered as she raised her head

"Uh, I'd rather not talk about it in front of her" Y/N said as she nodded her head towards Ana who was in a conversation with Normani about school

"Its alright, we won't force you. Tell us a little about yourself though" Andrea said taking over the spotlight

"Well, as I said before I'm a police lieutenant. I was born and raised in Paris, France. I moved here almost a year ago for this position in the police force. I'm 25 years old, born on y/b/d and I guess that's it really." Y/N admitted

"Okay, let's get into real matters now. How did you meet my daughter?" Derrick asked

"We met at the park thanks to Anais. We were playing with a frisbee and I threw it out of Ana's reach which caused it to hit Normani-"

Derrick went to launch at Y/N but Normani stopped him

"Dad I'm fine. It was months ago" she reassured which caused him to nod and sit back in his seat

"Okay... Where do you see yourself in ten years?" He continued his interrogation

"In ten years I see myself owning my own home, happily married in a healthy marriage with kids and having my own police station and or office" Y/N answer

"Married to Normani?" Derick asked

"Uh, it's too soon to tell but I do see a future with Normani that's for sure" Y/N clarified

"That's unacceptable!" Derrick said slamming his hands in the table which scared Ana

Y/N glanced at Anais who looked over at her older sister with evidence of fear in her eyes

"Daddy please" Normani begged a sigh leaving her mouth

"Derrick. They just started dating" Andrea stated

"I think 6 months is enough to know if you want to marry the person!" Derrick argued

"Dad it's not that serious. We're just getting to know each other it's too soon to tell if we'll get married in the furture" normani argued back

"Bullshit! I proposed to your mom when we it was our 6 month Anniversary"

All this time Y/N's eyes were locked on her little sister who was seated looking in between the arguing family

Once Y/N realized her sister starting to hyperventilate, she quickly stood to her feet and approached her, scooping her up from her seat and heading to Normani's bedroom where she proceeded to calm her down

"je veux maman (I want mom)" Anais cried as she was used to her mother calming her down in situations like this

Y/N had no clue how to calm her sister down and as if on cue, Normani entered the room

"I don't know what to do, she won't stop crying" Y/N said frustration evident in her voice as she stood to her feet and ran her fingers through her hair

Normani took a seat on the bed beside Ana who was having a panicked attack and pulled her into her arms before she proceeded to sing one of her soothing songs to the 11 year old

Eventually Ana started to calm down and fell asleep in Normani's arms

The sight before Y/N made her realize that she really missed her mother which caused her to also shed a tear

Y/N made her way to the bathroom where she stood by the sink gripping it as she fought back the tears in her eyes

Once Normani was done with the younger one, she then went to attend to the older sibling in the bathroom

The singer wrapped her arms around her girlfriend and just held her like that

"Times like this makes me realize that she's never coming back" Y/N vented

"I know, but you have me and Ana. You'll get through it baby, I promise" Normani encouraged before kissing Y/N's exposed shoulder

"Yeah that bitch is gay" the polynesian laughed before bringing the bottle of Vodka to her head once again

"She didn't want me so she chose Y/N... Ha! It's her loss, cause she fumbled all this for that" Dinah laughed at the camera

"Dinah! You're drunk!" Malika yelled as she rushed to end the Instagram live knowing thousands of people now knew the inside scoop on Normani's love life
