31.
ONE WEEK LATER
Olivia Coleman
Lauren and Cameron were easily forgiving to Matthew. In fact, they weren't really mad at him when they found out he has been in a gang (Lauren, not really; Cameron was just a little). They understood that Matthew couldn't tell people for certain reasons – and I understood, as well, but I'm just infuriated with him because he didn't tell me. Him being in the gang was the reason how he knew about that warehouse with the flushable toilets and broken light switch, and that Lauren and Cameron were kidnapped by Ansel, and where he could find them.
I trusted him, but I guess things weren't mutual.
Lauren talked to me a couple of times, telling me that I should forgive Matthew because we 'actually looked cute together', but I just ignored the subject. I should be forgetting about him. Too bad it's just too hard.
"And...that is the last box," I reported after lifting up a box, setting it at the backseat of Lauren's car (she had gotten one a few weeks after the Purge, knowing that she would need it). "So...I guess this is it?"
"No," Lauren snickered, flashing a sad smile. "You're obviously coming with me, Olivia. There's no way this is going to be our goodbye – plus, you packed most of these things and I need help un-packing." I rolled my eyes and chuckled.
"Fine." Lauren went over to the driver's seat and I went in the passenger seat. The whole ride was joyously filled with chatting and laughing from Lauren and I. We were enjoying every moment of it, knowing that we would no longer be seeing each other every morning anymore, or every night. This wouldn't be the last time we'd see each other (obviously), but things could be limited. Who knows? Maybe Cameron would propose to Lauren early, despite the fact that she was only eighteen – but then again (as terrible this may seem to say), Lauren had no parents to disapprove.
The drive to Cameron's seemed so short, because eventually, seeming like it's only been two minutes of us in the car, Lauren was parked on the driveway of Cameron's house. Cameron was waiting at the driveway for Lauren, and once Lauren got out of the car, Cameron rushed to her and kissed her. "Stop," I say while getting out. "Please." Lauren actually obeyed and was the one to pull away.
"Later, Cameron. I need to put my boxes in first." Lauren giggled. I nearly gagged.
"I'll help." Cameron said, opening the back of Lauren's car, pulling out a box.
"Me, too." I say and took the box from Cameron's hands. He glared at me. "What? This is the lightest box here, and I did enough carrying already so..." I scoffed and turned my heel, walking towards Cameron's house. The door was already open, thankfully. "Where should I put this?" I bellowed, turning my head to where Lauren and Cameron are, but I was still walking into his house. Lauren and Cameron didn't even acknowledge that I said something. I rolled my eyes.
"Just put them over here." I heard a voice. My eyes nearly bulged as I turned my head back to the front, seeing him – Matthew – standing at the living room.
