In the morning, Scott woke up to the sound of talking. When he opened his eyes he saw Jimmy and Gem, again. Gem was mixing her potions together and Jimmy was sitting in the old chair again next to Scott. They were both talking. Scott rubbed his eyes to clear his vision.

“You're awake!” Jimmy said happily.
Gem turned around and took her goggles off to see properly.

“Morning Scott! Sorry if we were loud.” Gem said.
“You were fine.” Scott smiled, tiredly.

“How do you feel?” Jimmy asked, putting his hand on Scotts head to feel his temperature.
“Ouch!” Jimmy moved his hand quickly.

“I feel fine, are you okay Jimmy?” Scott looked at Jimmy and smiled, he knew exactly why he got hurt.

“Are you sure?! Your head literally feels like ice!” Jimmy shouted.
Gem laughed and walked towards them both.

“Jimmy, did you not know that Scott always feels really cold?” Gem asked him.

“What? When?” Jimmy asked in shock, looking down at Scott.
Scott smiled at him.

“I have ever since I got my ice powers. I don’t feel cold because I can’t feel the cold but to others I feel like I’m freezing to death.”

“Oh,” Jimmy says. He felt stupid, probably being the only one who didn’t know this.

“Well, do you want to try sitting up to see if your head feels okay?” Gem asked.

Scott slowly moved to sit up and Jimmy moved the cushion so he could sit back. Once Scott had sat up he felt a bit better than yesterday and his head wasn’t as bad as it was before.

“So do you want to try to make your staff appear?” Gem asked.

“WHAT?” Jimmy shouted, almost cutting Gem off.

“Jimmy, that was loud,” Scott whispered to him trying to hide his ears from the sudden noise.

“Sorry, but what are you doing?” Jimmy asked angrily.

“Oh Jimmy it’s fine,” Gem stood next to him. “I found a book that the past wizards of Crystal Cliffs wrote. It says most ancient staffs can appear but not in the holder's hand.”

“But what if Scotts doesn’t?” Jimmy asked, still angry.
“That’s a very low chance. Plus I’m here.” Gem told him.

“What difference would that make?” Jimmy asked without thinking.
Scott laughed and Gem's face dropped.

“Excuse me?” She asked, shocked.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that.”  Jimmy said quietly, giggling.
Scott and Jimmy started laughing.

“I can’t believe you.” Gem said.
Scott looked at Gem.

“Yes I would like to try it but you promise to help me if I hurt myself again.” Scott asked both of them.
“Promise,” Gem said.
“Yes,” Jimmy said. “I mean, promise.”

Scott stood up. He stepped forwards slowly towards Gem. Jimmy stood up and leaned on the wall. Gem picked the book up off the table and found the page.

“It just says to imagine where you want it to be and make it appear.” Gem says.

“That's not going to work.” Jimmy insists and walks over to Scott.

“Jimmy, he has an ancient staff it will probably work.” Gem tells him, looking up from her book.

She points towards an empty space on the floor.

“Try to make it appear here.” Gem says. She steps back.
