HEATHER JOHNSON

"Principal Presley" Louise approached her, her voice trembling "what's going on?"

The principal looked at her sympathetically and grimaced. I moved closer to my sister, while Chase and Jacob stayed close enough to hear the conversation.

Pisses.

"I'm sorry, Louise" I didn't understand why she addressed her by her first name, but it was definitely serious.

"Be more specific" she asked, on the verge of tears.

"Emily has gone to her own death, there's nothing more I can do, Louise. I'm sorry."

Without realising it, I held my breath. Emily was in there? With everything on fire?

"Emily's still in there?!" I grabbed Louise's arm in an attempt to calm her down, but to no avail, because she quickly released my grip.

"Louise, calm down. Understand that I don't..."

"No!" my hands started to shake slowly, I didn't know what to do and it was torturing me, because I wanted to help my sister, "This place is supposed to help us control ourselves, not kill us, damn it!"

Control us?

My gaze strayed to Violet who was shouting her friend's name over and over again and trying to break free from Julliette's grip, but Julliette refused to let go and risk Violet being pulled back into the boarding school.

I looked back at the speechless headmistress, whose eyes widened as I did when we saw Louise yank off her collar and stride towards the back door to enter the boarding school.

"Louise!" I shouted, but she didn't pay any attention to me and went into the building anyway.

Now I started to panic, I didn't think twice as I started to walk after my sister to follow her. I screamed in frustration when I felt arms grab me from behind, blocking my way.

"Don't you dare go in there."

"Let go of me" I demanded, feeling my eyes begin to well up with tears that would soon fall.

"You're crazy if you think I'll let you go after your sister."

"You just don't understand! Louise is all I have left, let me go!"

And I wasn't lying. My boyfriend and my best friend were a pair of hypocrites. My mother had never loved me completely, and my father would always be on my mother's side, even if he pretended and said he didn't.

And that left only Louise. I always argued with mum because we didn't have the same treatment, it was always a bit more for her than for me, although I had got used to that by now.

But I could never bear it if something happened to her and I couldn't do anything about it.

I would never forgive myself.

"We can't risk someone else being in there with fire all over the place, Heather."

I gave up when I realized that Chase wouldn't loosen his grip or accede to my requests, so I settled for crying as he hugged my shoulders.

At some point I lost the strength in my legs, because I ended up kneeling on the green grass clinging to Chase who didn't seem to have any plans of walking away anytime soon.

"I need you to calm down, snot" he whispered in my ear.

I looked up slightly at Jacob, who knelt down in front of me.

"I'll go get Louise and Emily, but promise me you won't try to go too."

I contemplated the idea, but I didn't have a choice anyway, so I agreed.
