HEATHER JHONSON
I open my eyes slowly, as the strong light in the room prevents me from seeing immediately.
I move my fingers slowly, but when I try to bring my hands to my face, something stops me.
I manage to open my eyes fully and my body feels numb, which prohibits me from moving.
I search desperately for something or someone in the room that I know, but all I find is a silhouette with its back to me.
I softly clear my voice.
"Who are you and why can't I move?"
I freeze as he slowly turns around and I recognise his face immediately.
It's the same guy I met the first week at the hotel, and the same guy who fought with Chase.
"Hi, Heather."
I look down at myself and try to free myself, but the chains are holding me to the bed and I can't move an inch.
"Dylan, right?"
The smile he gives me gives me the creeps, and it doesn't bode well, especially when he slowly approaches me with his hands behind his back.
"Let me go" I demand, as if in this condition I have any right to complain.
"It will be a long time before I let you go, Heather. Be patient."
I laugh ungraciously.
"Are you listening to yourself? You're asking me to calm down while you have me chained to this gurney."
I feel disgusted as he gazes down my body which is only covered by my underwear, leaving me exposed.
"You're hiding something behind your back" I confirm.
"You're very observant, aren't you?"
"Anyone would be in my condition. Now tell me why I can't feel my body."
He shrugs.
"You should thank me for that. I've convinced Headmistress Presley to give you sedatives so you won't feel pain."
I stop breathing for a moment.
"Why would I be in pain?"
"Because of this."
He takes his hands from behind his back and shows me a large syringe with a pink liquid I've never seen before in my life.
"You won't feel anything, I promise."
I try to get my body to react, but nothing happens. He moves the needle closer to my neck and I feel the prick and the cold liquid spreads through my veins.
A couple of seconds pass and out of nowhere I feel the numbness in my muscles go away, giving way to the hellish burning that spreads through my limbs.
I gasp and start breathing heavily. I look at Dylan, startled.
"Your fucking sedative doesn't do shit. Why is my body burning?"
He frowns and places two fingers under my neck to take my inordinately rapid heartbeat.
He curses under his breath after a minute of taking my pulse, and the next thing I know he's rushing out of the white room, leaving me in complete solitude.
"Help!" I shout, "Is anyone there? I need help!"
I take a breath and scream at the top of my lungs. I scream until my throat hurts and burns.
