A Nurse Among Wolves

Chapter 7: Ash

Our mate was adorable. Ash almost laughed when she had taken her bag from him. He couldn't resist leaning down to whisper in her ear "and what if I want you in my bed".
She just gave me a mischiefs grin and whispered back "then you would definitely be in to" and with that she went back into the living room. I just stood there, leaning against the door frame taking deep breaths. If our little mate kept this up I was going to lose my mind.
"She's really something isn't she'' Toren came up beside me, smirking at my struggle for composure.
"I need her" I tell him, closing my eyes only to see an image of our mate. She is spread out on my bed, smiling up at me glorious and naked, waiting for me, waiting for us to pleasure and worship her like she deserves. Toren took a sharp breath in, picking up the image through our bond. Toren might be alpha but only because I chose not to fight him for it. I thought I was more suited to being second but Toren didn't agree.
"You should be alpha" he told me again "you're stronger, older and know more than any of us". It wasn't the first time he had made this argument but for once I actually agreed. Toren was alph but not as alpha as I was and we both knew it. "I don't want to push you out" I tell him "you've done so much"
Toren just snorted "and you've saved my ass more times then I can count". Toren had only been 8 when I found him in a wrecked car on the side of the interstate that leads into town. I had smelled the blood and gone to investigate only to find him unconscious in the back seat, both his parents already dead. I knew that the humans would be there soon and I knew that he couldn't go with them. I had smelled his wolf right away and even back then understood how bad it would be for a pup to be trapped among humans, away from his own kind. I might have only been 15 but I had been on my own since I was not much older than Toren was. My parents had come from Norway but when I was 7 they had told me to hide before leaving and never coming back. Being older I understood that there must have been a fight with another shifter group. I had eventually made my way to the pack at Wolves Run after they disappeared which was how we had gotten our property. The last alpha had left me all of Wolves Run pack territory in his will and I made the best use of it as I could. There were several families living in pack territory but unless something happened we didn't interact with each other too often.  When I had found Toren I had instantly felt the pack bond form and then later when we met Rowan and Roman our pack had felt complete, almost complete that is.
"She sings to my wolf" I told him, closing my eyes and trying to slow my pounded heart.
"I know brother" he put his hand on y shoulder "and that why you should be alpha, we both know that if we fought for alpha you would wipe the ground with me" he put up his hands to stop me when I opened my mouth to protest "you could and we both know it, we also both know that you would rather spend the rest of your life as beta then to fight me" he finished "so I'm not making you fight for it Ash, i'm giving it to you"
I studied him for a moment. "Are you sure Toren?" I ask "I don't think I can step down once I do this, it's simply not in my nature." Toren nodded as if he completely understood that the wolf in me was stronger than the wolf in him.
"I don't want it back Ash, you know as well as I that when anything happens we all, the twins and I, turn to you to work it out" he rubbed the back of his neck "I'm just not suited to be alpha and my wolf knows you're stronger than us by a mile" he grinned "he keeps wanting to submit and gets real pissed when I don't let him"
I take a deep breath and feel the weight lifted off my chest. My wolf has been fighting me for a long time about staying on the side lines and letting Toren lead.
"Alright" I tell him with a nod.
"Good, I'll let the twins know," he smiled and walked off to find them.
I feel my wolf rumble in approval, he's glad that I'm alpha now. It means that we will be first to take our mate and that thought makes us both happy.
When I come back into the living room Toren is talking quietly to the twins who both looked up and smiled at me. They had agreed with Toren when he first brought up me taking over and it seemed like it had taken as much pressure off of them as it had Toren. It was at this moment that Miren came out of the bathroom. She was wearing a huge, oversized t-shirt a hopefully short although he could see any cause the shirt was so long on her.

Hey everyone, so this is the last chapter I have finished so far. As I am moving as will be starting school again at the end of the month I will be trying to update every 2 weeks from now up but may be slower depending on my work load.
