It was hours before a slept. Knowing that our mate was just a room away, covered in our scent had almost drivin me crazy. But eventually gentle thoughts of Miren lulled me to sleep.
It was about 7:30 when the smell of food woke me. I am a big man and an even bigger wolf. I always woke up ravenous but this morning I was even more so. I crept into the kitchen to see the most beautiful sight of my life. There in front of the stove standing on a stool, flipping pancakes was Miren. She was somehow managing four different pans full of food without so much as batting an eye. I could smell bacon sausage eggs, coffee and the sweet smell of pancakes all mixed with her delicious scent of fresh rain and flowers. It was a heady, intoxicating smell. I stood there for a moment more just watching as she cooked and hummed to herself. What would it be like to wake up to this woman every morning? To open my eyes and her face be the first thing I see. My wolf growled in approval. Before my wolf could get any ideas I walked into the kitchen offering what I hoped just looked like a groggy good morning.
"Morning Ash" she said cheerfully, throwing me a bright smile over her shoulder "I hope you guys wake up hungry because I may have over over done it on breakfast"
I made myself a cup of coffee, nodding to her question "we always eat a lot around here, especially in the mornings"
"Oh good, I figured big guys usually eat a lot but wasn't sure if this was too much"
I could smell the anxiety starting to rise in her "it's not too much I promise, after you see how much the twins can pack away in the morning you will have a completely new definition of 'too much'". Miren giggled at this. It was at the exact moment the twins decided to make their appearance, looking like toddlers who weren't really awake yet. Rowan, being more of a morning person then his brother, plopped down in the chair next to mine. Roman on the other hand shuffled towards Miren, putting his head on her shoulder and whimpering like a kicked puppy.
"Cccooofffffffeeeeeee" he whined. Miren laughed at his antics, petting his head.
"It's in the pot, fresh made" she told him. He nuzzled her neck, earning him another giggle, before shuffling over to the pot and pouring a large cup for himself. Just Miren hopped off her stool Torin walked in with his nose in the air.
"That's smells amazing" he told her trying to take the plate she was holding.
"Oh no you don't" she turned so her back was to him and the plate away from his hands "he guys have down more then enough for me, sit down and let me do this"
I could tell Torin wasn't happy about sitting while our mate worked, none of us were, but we all knew better then arguing with a female. Finally Torin just shrugged his shoulders and took the seat on my other side. Miren hummed, pleased that he had done as she asked. I elbowed Torin in the side, using our link to speak privately.
"She likes taking care of people" I sent him.
"But she shouldn't have to, we're here to take care of her" he replied, the frustration seeping through the connection.
"It's her mothering instinct" I explain "she-wolves feel a deep need to take care of those they consider pack or pup, she probably doesn't even know she's doing it. Give her time and she will realize she can depend on us no matter what" I reassure him and he nods.
She is beautiful and caring and I don't know how the hell I was going to keep my hands off of her.
