Everyone in William McKinley High was ushered into the assembly room. Everyone spoke amongst themselves, talking over the principal who tried to speak. But he seemed to disheartened to. He looked over to one of his peers who were seated in the front row of bleachers. They gave him a supportive thumbs up, but it was clear, they, too, were absolutely heart broken.
The school principal cleared his throat and re composed himself.
"Attention, everyone!" He said loudly into the mic. All the students slowly quieted down. "As heart breaking as this is, i'm to break the news to you all. Rachel Berry was found early this morning- dead. It was clear she had been brutally murdered. So please be respectful to her family and friends, and make sure to send your condolences to her parents. I'm sure her fathers would really appreciate it." The room erupted into quiet chatter. The principal looked to his right where two police officers stood. "Deputy Lynn would like to say something."
The middle aged principle moved to the side and a bald looking officer stepped forward, taking his place.
"I'm sure you're all heartbroken by the news." He stated. "My partner and i will be staying at the school for a while as extra protection, as we're convinced the murderer is someone who goes to school here. We'll be taking a few students aside to speak with in private, so please don't be frightened when you're being pulled out of class- we just need the most help we can get in finding the culprit."
Everyone stayed quiet this time. They all looked around the room to see they shared the same expression with almost everyone. All the students had nervous, anxious expressions plastered on their faces. None of them were sad, or in pain to hear one of their fellow classmates had been killed, but they were all worried they were going to be next.
"That's it for today. Stay safe, and go home immediately after school." The officer said. He stepped aside and watched as everyone on the bleachers got to their feet and started walking away.
They were all loud now, making it hard for the administrators to properly hear one another when they spoke.
Everyone from the glee club got together in the school hall, all practically crying their hearts out.
"Why would anyone kill Rachel?" Said a girl with blonde hair, and on the taller side. People called her Brittany, though a lot of her friends liked to call her 'Britt'.
"What did she even do wrong?" A man on his taller side, too, was on the verge of breaking down.
"I'm sorry, Finn." Kurt rubbed his step-brothers arm.
"T-t-t-this isn't f-f-fair." A girl stuttered. She went by the name of Tina Cohen- Chang.
Two girls, a blonde and a brunette looked at one another. They never liked Rachel, in fact, they bullied her almost daily, so they didn't necessarily know how to express their emotions. They didn't want to feel too vulnerable, because then everyone would grow curious, but they also couldn't show zero emotion, because everyone would grow suspicious and call them heartless. The two girls went by Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez.
"Why wouldn't they cancel school for the day?" A black woman said. She had gorgeous hair, and a nice voice that when she spoke everyone felt a sensation of warmth in their chest. People call her Mercedes Jones.
Noah kicked his feet at the ground. "This is fucked up! Sure, Rachel's annoying, but who'd do such things?"
An Asian boy wrapped his arm around Tina, trying to comfort her. Though it did little to nothing. The boy went by Mike Chang. His eyes were droopy from trying to hold in his tears. Everyone's eyes were.
A blonde boy frowned. he had sightly bigger lips than the rest of the group. He went by Sam Evans, "I want to go home. I feel sick to my stomach."
Everyone else agreed. Completely disgusted by the whole situation.
A boy in a wheelchair moved back from the group. "I'm going to go to class. Teachers are going to grow suspicious of us all if we're just standing- or sitting, around."
"Artie's right, although we haven't done anything wrong, they might think we have." A boy with slicked back hair said. It was clear he used too much gel, but no one had the heart to say anything, especially at a time like this. This young boy went by the name of Blaine Anderson.
Everyone separated and went to their designated classes. Every student who wasn't in the glee club acted as if nothing had happened, some, in fact, continued to bully Rachel, even though she was no longer here to defend herself.
'i Bet her dads' are happy they're getting some peace and quiet!'
'It's about time. I thought she'd have killed herself long ago.'
'Truly the best day!'
'Who do you think did it? Who's the scariest person in the glee club?'
This whole situation was a joke to many students, and it disgusted all the teachers and Rachels' friends.
Kurt, Tina and Brittany all sat at the same table, listening to all of the rude remarks being made around them. Everyone's attention was diverted to the classroom door where a police officer stood.
"Kurt Hummel?" He called out. Kurt nervously rose to his feet and walked to the door.
'Oh snap, do you think it was him?' A guy laughed.
"Nah, he's too gay. He'd be too scared to get his fancy fingernails dirty!' Another bloke laughed.
Kurt ignored them, he was used to homophobic behaviour, but he had never once thought he'd be jokingly brought up as a suspect for murder.
Kurt and the officer walked down the hall and entered an empty classroom. Kurt was gestured to sit down and so he kindly obeyed. The officer sat across from him.
"You're not in trouble." The officer reassured once he saw Kurt's face looked absolutely petrified.
Kurt shakily nodded. His heart must've been pounding a thousand beats per second. He had never spoken to the law before, so this was an exhilarating experience. Nonetheless, Kurt did everything he could to recompose himself.
"How close were you and Rachel?" The officer asked.
"Fairly. We spent quite a bit of time together." Kurt said.
The officer nodded and took notes in his folder.
"Did she ever seem off the day of her passing?" He wondered.
Kurt thought about it, then shook his head. "No, she seemed her usual self. Do you suspect she knew who killed her?"
"We're just getting the information that we can." The officer reassured. "Did she get into an altercation with anyone recently?"
"Not that i know of." Kurt said. "I'm sure she would have said something had she gotten into one, though."
Again, the officer took notes.
The officer let out a sigh, then looked to Kurt and gave him a small smile. "Thank you for your time, you can head back to class now."
Kurt stood up and left the room, slowly walking back to class.~~~~~~
Every student in the glee club had been pulled out of class and spoken to. Every teacher had been spoken to, and even kids who Rachel might not have necessarily been close with were spoken to. It was a busy day for the officers.
The glee kids sat in the choir room, eyeing Rachel's chair. None of them wanted to touch it, none of them even felt comfortable sitting near it.
Mr. Schue walked into the choir room a few minutes later, with a few pieces of paper in hand. Halfway in, he stopped and looked to Rachel's chair. Sorrow filling his face.
"I didn't think any of you would come in today." Mr. Schue said.
"O-o-of course we w-w-would. Rachel l-loved glee club." Tina stuttered out.
Mr. Schue gave the kids a warm smile, then cleared his throat. "This weeks assignment is dedicated to Rachel. We'll sing all songs she loved, and we'll even send all of our condolences to her parents. Alright?"
Everyone in the room nodded, though none of them were in the mood to be singing, and they all saw it written on each others faces.
The day came to an end, everyone in the room had picked one of Rachel's favourite songs- which were all mainly sung by Barbra Streisand. All of the teenagers were at their lockers, grabbing all of the items they needed. Artie and Tina's lockers happened to be right next to each other, so while they packed their belongings, they made some small talk.
"I feel really bad for Finn and Rachel's family." Artie shook his head.
"W-why would someone d-d-do that?" Tina frowned.
"For their own pleasure." Artie scoffed.
Tina shut her locker, then turned to face Artie. "I'm g-going to g-g-go now. See you t-tomorrow."
Artie waved his friend off and watched as she walked away. Once she'd turned a corner he went back to grabbing items he needed and putting everything away he didn't.~~~~
Tina walked down the paved street, occasionally checking her phone to make sure she hadn't missed any calls from her parents or messages from any friends.
The sun shone on her face, causing her to squint while she walked down the street. As she was about to cross the road she heard a cars engine start up. But when she looked to see where the car was, it was facing the opposite direction. Tina shrugged and started crossing the road, barely able to see now from the sun. A loud screeching erupted the streets, Tina looked to her left and saw the back of a car merely a few seconds away from hitting her. The young girl had no time to react before she was being plowed down by car. The car moved over her body as the tires tore up Tina's skin. The person driving the car reversed the car off the teenager and stepped out. They were in a black hooded robe, and a rubbery white ghostlike mask on their face, hiding their features. They carried a buck 120 in their right hand. Tina didn't know who was behind this, but without a doubt, she knew it was the person who had murdered her friend.
Blood spurt out of Tina's mouth as she lay on her back. The person behind the disguise walked over to the young girl, tilting their head to the side, then without any hesitation, knelt down onto her and stabbed the knife into her chest, taking away her final breaths.
The person in the black robe waked to their car and grabbed a piece of paper. They walked back to the lifeless girl and planted the paper in her mouth. The tall figure turned around and walked back to their car, where they then drove off, acting as if nothing had happened.
