Chapter 25

This was one of the times, when Y/n wanted her brain to shut up. With a frown on her face she jumped from a branch to another. 'Maybe you shouldn't have left Naruto go alone.' Y/n shook her head, because Naruto was more than capable on taking down some brutes wielding swords. 'What if the masked ninja is with them?' Her subconscious whispered in wonders. Y/n frowned again. A part of her knew that ninja's with ability like the masked guy were smart enough not to let traces behind even with an weak opponent, but there was a slight chance that.. 'What if it's a trap?' Y/n speed up in hope the wind was going to carry her doubts away. She hated when she was uncertain and had no information on her opponent, their strategy and worse of all Naruto's safety was involved.

To prevent herself from stressing any further Y/n came up with a plan. 'If Zabuza is fighting alone then I will immediately make a run at Naruto's side.' She nodded to herself. 'But that might be to late..' Y/n ignored it and focused at the sight in front of her.

Instead of the bridge, a large high mist wall surrounded it. Y/n stopped at a safe distance, closing her eyes, trying to pick up any noise of fighting going on nearby , but there was nothing. Y/n opened her eyes only to be faced by a sea of mist. No matter how much she narrowed her eyes, she couldn't see nothing.

"Y/n!" someone called. Y/n turned instantly at the voice. Not far away from her, a group of people where gathered. Y/n decided to approach without lowering her guard. Only when she was close enough to see their face Y/n recognized them.

"You guys!" They were the employees working for Tazuna. She run towards them. "What are you doing out here?" They were to close to the mist for comfort. A kunai, a shuriken or a powerful jutsu gone to far and they would be goners.

"We can't go in there!" The youngest of them, but still older then Y/n, said looking at the mist and back at her. Y/n wrinkled her noise in annoyance at the misunderstanding.

"I MENT what are You doing this Close to the MIST!" Y/n explained, her hands on her hips. "It's dangerous to stay in here." She approached the man the other was attending the injuries off. "What happened?" she asked softly.

"We.." he pointed at two others that Y/n knew worked on the bridge building business. "..were doing the usual preparations.. " he touched the bandage wrapped around his head. "..when we got attacked out of nowhere." His other hand was in a tight fit. "They were most likely sent by Gatou." His head stood low. Y/n nodded, but she wasn't finished with the questions.

"How did the offender looked?" She questioned. The three attacked man exchanged looks. The one whose leg was bandaged opened his mouth, but closed it without a noise coming out of it. "Did you not see who attacked you?" Y/n raised an eyebrow. 'That wouldn't be helpful at all.' In that case Y/n would have to go blind, she looked at the mist, literally.

"No! That's not it." The one with a bandaged arm denied. " I am not sure how to describe them." He looked apologetic. Y/n peeked up at the world "them". She was sure Zabuza was one of "them", because her sense had gotten on his nerves with that prophecy of his and the mist jounin wanted to prove that the truth was the other way around. Y/n was betting on her sensei's win.

"Were there.." Y/n thought about a way to describe Zabuza ".. An eyebrowless freak.." Y/n said the fist thing that came up on her mind, waiting for the man's response. The three man nodded, a little taken aback at the red girl's weird but accurate description. ".. and a masked guy?" Y/n smiled satisfied as they nodded and let a sigh of relief. There was no need for her to worry about Naruto anymore. "Alright then." Y/n fully turned towards the mist wall. "Today is your day off.." Y/n turned only her head, watching them from the corner of her eyes. "..so go get some rest." The man shared worried glances.

"What about you?" the youngest of them asked.

"I am going to aid my teammates." Y/n pointed at the mist, which was a big problem, because there was no way for her to now how far it goes. For all she knew, Y/n could bump into Zabuza and then was game over.

"B-but you can die!" He stuttered as he made a step closer. "And who is going to protect us from Gatou if shows up?!" He desperately tried to convince her to stay.

"You and your village will be the least of his concerns,.." An evil smirk made the way to her lips. "..when his client is going be after his head." She was to observed on admiring her master plan to notice the villagers shudder at the new side of her. No one could blame them, they only have know the nice smiling red haired girl. "Never forget this.." They had forgotten that the young red haired was a ninja. "..if we don't make it alive.." Y/n gave them a closed eye smile not fazed that she was taking about her own death. "..continued building the bridge alright." With that last request she run inside the mist, leaving worried citizens behind.

The mist was thick. Y/N couldn't see were she was stepping on, let alone were she was going. 'Let hope the furball knows were we are going.' The said furball, had appeared after Y/n had stepped inside the mist. Her gut feeling had told her to follow it and Y/n hadn't find the need to go against it. Y/n wanted to dig her fingers at the fur the wind ruffled as to taunt her, but couldn't. Every time Y/n tried to get close, it got out of sight to only appear at the same distance they had before. Her temptation was provoked again when it moved it's tail and some sharp black ears stood. That was the last thing she noticed before, to Y/n's disappointment, it disappeared.

Zabuza's laugh caught her ear. 'It's no time for distraction.' Y/n scolded herself as she run out of the mist, using the side of the bridge as her cover, presence cancelled.

"Haku,.." Zabuza spoke. Now Y/n had a name for the mystery ninja. "..Do you realize? At this rate we'll be driven back." Y/n grinned at the news. 'That means Sasuke and Kakashi are in the lead!' proudly thought as she watched from the space the metal bars created on the fence. Her joy, however, was cut short.

"Yeah." Chills run through Y/n's spine. 'This is bad!' The energy around Haku had changed into a dangerous one, whatever jutsu he was planning to use, Sasuke didn't stand a chance. "We can't have that." Y/n moved fast from her hiding spot and threw a kunai at Haku. She was hoping he would lose his concentration, but Haku jumped out of the way, hand sign in place. Y/n groaned at her failed attempt and continued to run towards her frozen teammate, at least she could move Sasuke out off the jutsus way.

She grabbed a hold on the back of his blue blouse and dragged him as fast as she could to an exit. The lady luck had given up on her, because as Y/n thought she found an way out a mirror blocked her path.

Y/n and Sasuke were trapped into a mirror cage.
