Y/n was well aware that what she was doing wasn’t the safest or the brightest idea she could have had, but she was determined to, hopefully, make it work. She also knew performing a method that could turn her permanently into a stone statue if not done currently, which had a high chance off happening considering her only knowledge off it was from what she had read years ago, in the middle of battlefield was reckless.
But what else could Y/n do?
Attacking the mirror jutsu with a high jutsu was not an option, since she didn’t poses the amount of chakra to call a meteor from outer space or create a huge water dragon. That would result on her own life hanging by a thread. Not to mention the possibly that Naruto and Sasuke as well being caught on the range off the attack. Yeah, Y/n couldn’t allow that.
With that in mind Y/n figured she didn’t need a strong jutsu to break out. What she needed was to make the jutsu’s she was already familiar with stronger and more impactful. And the only way to do that was for her to enter Sage mode.
What Y/n had to do was to follow the instructions she had read on her father’s notebook. Speaking off her father, Y/n made a mental note to asked her old man an apologise when they meet on the after life. With that out of the way Y/n did exactly what she needed to do.
Keeping her body still. Focusing on drowning the energy from the nature surrounding her. Y/n made sure it was not much as to overwhelm her or to little as not to balance with her own chakra before she opened eyes.
Y/n did notice the difference immediately. Her senses were hyper aware of every little thing. The small off blood, the sound off metal meeting metal or the tearing of clothes and her vision seamed to have become a chakra director of some sort. ‘This is weird and awesome at the same time!’ Maybe she didn’t hide her excitement very well because her teammates and their opponent turned to look at her.
“Sorry for taking so long boys!” She had no idea how much the time had past, but judging by their condition it had passed quite a lot. “Hang in there a little more.” Naruto gave her a thumbs up, a grin on his face despite off the blood going down from the cut on his. Y/n knew he always have her back.
When she looked over at Sasuke she had to do a double take. That wasn’t for the fact that he had unlocked the Uchiha’s pride and joy, the sharingan, because ‘Good for him!’ but the look on his face was of one that had just seen a ghost. Y/n raised an eyebrow at him, which seemed to snap him out of whatever trance he was.
“Hurry it up!” He huffed and Y/n nodded. She was going to ask him later about it.
For now she had some ice mirrors to crack, before her battery run out. Y/n jumped on her. Her body felt light and full of energy which was a good thing. Y/n brought her hands in front. Her heart was beating strong on her chest, cheering for a positive result as Y/n proceeded with her jutsu.
Y/n evilly smirked as electricity formed on her palm. It did fell stronger and it caused a burning sensation on her skin, but the adrenaline was to high for Y/n to care. “Naruto, I need this place crowded!” Y/n ordered, confident her knucklehead friend knew what she meant, without her having to explain.
“ON IT!” Naruto yelled, not wasting any time to summon his shadow clones and proceeded to attack. Y/n wanted to pat him in the back, but she had to move herself, so she charged towards the nearest mirror.
“Sasuke, keep those needles away from me.” She could swear he murmured something that sounded like “Stop ordering me around!” but steps in front of her to deflect the upcoming needles away from her.
As soon as Y/n was in front of the mirror, Haku’s reflection was there too. Naruto’s voice calling her name was heard on the background, clearly worried , but Y/n was not stopping, not after arriving this far.
Her whole arm felt heavy and her palm burned from keeping the jutsu for to long, but it was easy for Y/n to ignore it. She was smirking wen she said “Sorry, not sorry.” To her opponent and pushed her hand towards the mirror until electricity met ice.
Y/n didn’t flinch when Haku’s needles pierced the flesh on her right arm and leg as he escaped to another mirror. Y/n put all her thought and heart into destroying the ice mirror in order to create a passage for her and her teammates to get out.
She let waves of chakra run through her arm to her palm, enhancing the electricity, the buzzing off which becoming stronger, spreading in blue sparks that lighted the surface her attack was concentrated. Y/n clenched her teeth as every wave felt like was pulling her arm out, but she refused to give up.
The cracking sounds coming from the mirror were her encouragement, but her energy was running out. ‘A like more! A little more! A little more!’ she enchanted, prayed to any God that had a free time to help. But her prayers went unheard.
The buzzing sound that filled the air a second ago stopped and Y/n’s arm fell down numb and the skin on her palm red. Y/n looked at the mirror panting. “You got to be kidding me!” It hadn’t been enough.
“That was close!” Y/n turned around with a lot difficulty to face her opponent. The needles on right side were doing a good job on slowing her down. Her leg was impossible to bend and her arm, both of her arms actually, were useless. Y/n cursed under her breath and took a look at the situation they were now. Her heart dropped as she saw Naruto panting on the ground, trying to get up. “My jutsu uses a lot of chakra..” Y/n scoffed, not impressed at the information. “..There in a limit on how long I can keep up this speed.” Y/n took deep breaths trying to compose herself. Dodging until the opponent run out of chakra was an option, but they were in no condition for that. ‘Damn it!’ “I have let this last to long.” Haku had his needles in hand. Y/n raised her dagger in a pathetic attempt to protect herself. Her arm was trembling, muscles still weak from what had transpired moments ago. The irritated skin on her palm protested for her to let go. Y/n clenched her teeth and went with it. “This is the end!” And jumped out the mirror.
Y/n he could see the needles coming her way, but her body wasn’t responding fast enough. She managed to deflect a few, but missed two that went for her left leg. Y/n hissed more at the feeling than the pain it caused. Her back was exposed, totally unprotected. So Y/n didn’t really blame Haku for the two needles that pierced her left arm and one on her throat.
Y/n was now unable to move and unable to speak. ‘Just great!’ Y/n mentally groaned. ‘Kakashi-sensei better shows up soon or we are screwed!’ They already were.
Y/n tried to look at her teammates from the corner of her eyes. Her blue eyes went wide at what was happening. Sasuke was standing in front of Naruto, needles piercing his body, a puddle of blood forming on his feet.
“I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!” Naruto yelled. Y/n wanted to move and go by her teammates side, check his injuries, make sure he was ok, but she couldn’t do any of it.
“I don’t know what...” cough of blood, interrupted his sentence. “My body moved on it’s own.. Idiot.” Y/n felt her breath stop when Sasuke’s body began to fall. “That.. man.. my brother..I told myself I wouldn’t die until I killed him.” Y/n wanted to scream at him for taking like he was about to die, but she couldn’t. All she could do was watch helplessly her teammate life slip away. It was a nightmare and Y/n wanted to wake up, needed to do so. “Don’t you die too..” Y/n just stared. Watched her teammate, her comrade, her friend’s eyes close. The whole scene became blurry by the tears forming on her eyes. Now Y/n felt like she lost this battle.
“He landed a blow on me and without flinching died to protect you. To protect a precious person, knowing it was a trap, he was still willing to jump in.” Y/n bit her lips hard to stop it from trembling. “He is a shinobi that deserves respect.” He truly did. “Is this you first death off a friend?” A chill run through Y/n spine. “This is the way of a shinobi..” She didn’t need to have the sensory skills or the enchanted abilities of the sage mode to tell her what was coming.
“Shut up!” Y/n's instincts were telling her to run, but her heart wanted to go at Naruto and hug him.
Naruto was hurting and the nine tail was taking advantage of that.
