It had been a very peaceful day so far, not much work to do at the clinic. Only Evelyn and her husband George had been their for their check-up, but there was nothing wrong with them. They were vital people, old but healthy.
Harvey used to dream to be that healthy in the old age.

"And it's really okay if I leave a little more early?"
Maru had already changed her clothes back to her casual clothing, ready to leave for the day. It was her father's birthday today and she planned to celebrate with him and her mother. Maybe her brother would come too, thou Harvey had heard that he was spending a lot of time with his best friend lately.
"Yeah, yeah, sure!"
Harvey smiled at the nurse while he was looking up from his files. On calm days like this he liked to do his financial calculations, thou he always came to the same conclusion - he had to less patients.
"Have fun with your father and tell him Hi from me!" Demetrius didn't seem to like him that much, but his mother raised a gentleman.
"Thanks, I'll so." She gave him a skewy smile. "It's nothing personal, you know this."
As usual, she looked right through him.
"I know, yeah." Harvey lowered his head again. "It's fine. As long as you like me..."
He heard Maru chuckle as she left and gave her a last wave through the window.
Such a fine girl.

Not much time passed when he heard the little bells on the door chime again. In the first moment he thought it was Maru again who might have forgotten something, but all of a sudden he noticed the tempting hot smell of coffee. He thought he was surprised in that second, but the real surprise waited for him when he raised his eyes and spotted a short, chubby and unshaved guy at the other side of the counter: It was Shane, the guy who used to live with his aunt Marnie on her ranch.
Harvey had never talked much to this guy. Once it had been necessary to make an emergency operation on him, because he drunk so much beer that his liver had almost given up.
Shane held a cup, apparently full of coffee. Without saying a word, not even a short Hello, he put it down on the counter and pushed it over.
"For you", he announced with a husky voice, without giving any further information about the cause of his visit.
"Eh, thank you very much?"
A bit confused Harvey got up on his feet. He wasn't used to this kind of gesture, but who was he to say no?
"What's this for? Is it from Marnie?"
"No, no. It's from me." Shane leaned forward but stared away consequently. "Just so. No reason. I heard you like coffee, know."
Before Harvey took a sip, he narrowed his eyes and glared over to the other man, basically a stranger to him. He didn't know him  they never talked to each other before - but exactly this was the point.
"Shane, I am your doctor as well", he announced professional, even thou he knew the man never appeared in time to his check-ups, "You can be honest with me. You need to be honest with me."
Shane still stared onto the wall, as if there was something worth staring at. He didn't say a word.
"C'mon." Harvey crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. "I gonna tell nobody." In this pose, he leaned over the counter.
"What did you do?"
